It is reported by media sources (radio - not in print yet that I'm aware of) that WSU AD Jim Schaus has withdrawn from consideration for the New Mexico AD opening.
That makes the Valley 2 for 2 in turning that job down.

That's really not a suprise from what we've been told here at UNI. Who wants the old guy looking over your shoulder all of the time? If that's the arrangement they should have looked internally.

Sorry if this is old news, but did UNI's A.D. turn down the job too? Or take his name out of consideration?

Yes, Rick Hartzell withdrew Thursday or Friday I believe.

As early as Rick withdrew his name one must assume he was not going to make the cut. With the budget that NIU has Rick probably earns around 18k a year and the thought of a 280k salary would keep him hanging around if he had any hope in my opinion.
On the other hand I am fairly convinced that Jim hung around until the last day to make sure everybody at WSU knows his street value. After today it's right around 280k. The Schaus family undoubtedly will be enjoying a significant pay increase in their future statements! Good job Jim!
It's a great day to be a Shocker!
