Joe Lunardi is about to be no ESPN with Digger and Doug Gottlieb. Could make for a very interesting show.

New bracketology on ESPN.com has MSU out.

its not like it matters... they finished their picks and seedings last night i heard on espn radio earlier.

I *knew* this was going to happen, and it's absolutely ridiculous. NOTHING has happened in the past 48 hours to make any change in the bracket necessary, but he's been so sure that it was going to happen that he kept talking about how MSU would be the highest RPI team to be left out. And even though it didn't happen, he still made the change to cover his own butt. So all of a sudden George Mason got a lot better in four hours and MSU got a lot worse?

Again, screw Lunardi. He's been pulling your leg all along. If MSU was in all of this time and is suddenly out, it's politics alone.

this is terrible - but there is nothing we can do. lets hope that joe is wrong. i think all those teams he put before us are kool-aid drinkers. its really sad.

its really not a big deal. your getting worked up over this? bears are in. stay strong. dont give in to the darkside of espn

Does joe ever make wrong selections? How often is he wrong? Why was the change made so suddenly? It would help to understand why. Nothing has changed except a spot opening with SC losing. This goes completely against conventional wisdom. The only thing that makes sense is that he is drinking the cool-aid.

EXACTLY... so dont worry.

Digger forced Joe into a corner, grabbed him by the throat and poured Kool-Aid down his gullet, a-la Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

All this talk of Kool Aid is really making me thirsty. I wouldn't worry about it. He has missed once before. Or is it one a year. Either way I think Missouri State is in.

If he screws up once a year then im not worried. Once in how many years, im worried.

I guess I am hoping that he didnt get some sort of inside information telling him whats happening.

If its just his guess - then so be it.

he has gotten 64 of 65 the last 6 years.

Lunardi pulled SIU's chain a couple of years ago, I think it was '03. Putting SIU in the field Friday, out of the field Saturday and back in the field in his final update Sunday. Nothing had changed.

okay - so he screws up once a year. i feel better. he is about to screw up again. i dont think he is counting in the ncaa's new formula either - he is drinking kool-aid. i hope.

I really hope that he did not get information from someone about it.

But at least he left them in.. this is the first time he has taken them out.. and its at the WRONG time.

There shouldn't be a question. If the Bears don't dance, they have only themselves to blame.

shootingbear
03-12-2006, 03:50 PM
yes, but no.

yes - in losing to UNI - no because of the other teams which would get in ahead of us. they are just as good (better) than many of those other teams.

If by "them" you mean "the AD", you're absolutely right.

Bull$hit... you don't leave out a team with an RPI of 19. Bears were 8-2 down the stretch. SOS of what 38? if they get left out the RPI is a joke and should never be used ever again as a factor.

just to make a quick note.. it looks like Joe is mimicing the bubble watch - and putting GM in front of MSU. That may be the issue. I hope Joe is wrong. Everyone else has us in.

This is the year many "experts" will be wrong by several teams.

If by "them" you mean "the AD", you're absolutely right.

The AD bears the blame for the scheduling, but the coach has to bear an equal or larger share for the lack of execution in big games.

But the real point I wanted to make is this: There's no room for crying. No room to scream about conspiracy theories, no room for pity parties and woe-is-us whining.

No excuses. Either they did enough, or they didn't. Period.

I think you are on target with that statement. Digger will probably be wrong by about half the field.

Joe really disappoints me. Nothing happened in the last few hours to change things yet he takes MSU out.

Actually I hope George Mason makes it, but Florida St and Seton Hall should be out.

So I hope Lunardi ends up missing a few this year.:valley: :bears: :braves: :jays: :panthers: :salukis: :shockers: :valley:

Yet, we do have an ACC AD on task here.

What a coincidence. Lunardi puts GMU in and MSU out, and it happens. So what's the lesson?

That committee is not sequestered. Lunardi made the change because someone CALLED him and TOLD him to make the change. He's good because they tell him what to write.

The NCAA is a crock. If we keep playing their game in this conference in this league, we're going to get the same results. The only choice is to change something. Leadership, conference, players, something.

The seedings are going to make it hard for the Valley teams to win, but I hope we do!!!!

CBS letting Billy Packer and Jim Nantz whine about the fact that the Valley and CAA got ANY at large bids was pitiful.

If they had been paying attention, it was Air Force and Utah St that snuck in under the radar screen and took away 2 bids from everyone else.
