Anybody know anything on Isiah Martin yet? What about the other guy (can't think of his name but he is Luthianian) who played for Three Rivers. Hoping against hope that Marty can reel both of these two in. If so, Aces will surprise this season.:aces: :valley: :aces: :bounceblue:

The kid from JUCO is Mantas Griskenas. Google him. I found he took two visits out West and ISU (red) and WSU were in the running. The article did not mention UE.

Go to Illiniosbasketball.com for update on Isiah Martin.

Both of these guys have many offers on the table.

I found that Zack House a 7 footer from Chicago area is looking at UE. I backed out of an NLI to NIU. Lists UE as a possible.

Thanks for the information. I found a few things about him on google. Definite project, but I think he might be worth the gambe. If Maty can teach him "toughenss" hopefuly he could at least be a defensive presence. Maybe another Sasha Hoopman??? I would take that. :valley: :aces: :bounceblue:

As a senior Zach House averaged more than 16 points, 10 rebounds and nearly 6 blocks per game. His field goal percentage was 65% and his team had a record of 27-4. Don't know about the level of competition, but those stats are pretty decent on a team with a good won/loss record.

A big post player who can play good defense and average near 10 rebounds would be a welcome addition.

I recall Dan Godfread being a project who had difficulty catching the ball as a freshman but was a very good player as a senior. Sasha Hupmann, as previously mentioned, is another project who turned out very well for the Aces. Hope Coach Simmons can sign House and have similar success!

Just as an FYI.....while House is from Illinois, he is not from the Chicago area.....he's from Rock Falls, which is probably about 125 miles west of Chicago.

His school had been Class A (small school) until a couple of years ago, when they moved up to Class AA (large school....Illinois only has 2 classes for basketball....until next year).

I'm guessing most of the competition he played was fairly small schools....I'm from the Chicago area, so my definition of small schools might not be the same as other people's definition.

more info. on Zach House:

5-4-07 7-0 C Zach House of Rock Falls has decommited from Northern Illinois and re-opened his recruitment. He is looking at Nevada, Penn, Brown, Evansville, and Rice, and is keeping his options open

Zach House is just under 7' 1/4 " using a level on his head and a second person making the mark. Then measuring with a good steel tape so no stretching is involved.

Zach House has a 4.3 grade point average and is ranked 3rd in his class. Zach can run a 5:50 mile. He is very smart on the floor and is a leader. He is putting up good numbers this year for a team that graduated 10 seniors. If anyone of you have seen Zach play he has PASSION and HEART for his team on the floor or on the bench like no one else. His Varsity record at Rock Falls over the past three years is something like 60-9 Seven of those loses as a sophmore. He comes from a winning program and expects to win everytime he laces up his shoes. If any of you get a chance go up to him and say Hi and talk to him for five minutes and you will see what a great guy Northern is getting. He has Passion for the game and even more Passion for life and people.

Zach right now is between 225 and 230. Zach is late for his age in body maturing. His older brothers body didn't fill out until his second year out of high school. If Zach follows the same pattern, in two years he will be a horse and if he can still run a sub six minute mile look out.

What a great opportunity awaits Zach if he choses the Aces. Possibility of starting four years in the Valley for a city that is starving for good basketball. Can't help but believe that UE would be a good fit for him in the classroom as well.
ACES FANS ARE WAITING FOR YOU ZACH!!!

Nevada leads in the recruitment of Zach House

“DePaul did call today, but if I had to say a leader it would be Nevada,” said House, “I think I fit in pretty good with Coach Fox.” House is using his experience to help him this time around with the recruiting process. “Essentially I have been through it once, and knowing what to expect helps a lot,” said House. House is not interested in Prep School or Juco, and Furman has offered a scholarship, but House feels good about Nevada, “They want me to come out on an official visit,” he added. “There is no timetable on the recruitment process, I’ll take my time and pick the right school for me,” said House. With no timetable, House will have plenty of time to work out the kinks in his game, and improve. He is also interested in enrolling this summer “It kind of depends with the coaching staff and stuff,” said House, “but whatever the coaching staff wants I will do but I am definitely open for summer.” Once House makes his decision Illinoishsbasketball.com will have full coverage of his commitment.

Thanks for the info....though it is disappointing. Guess we'll have to see what next step Marty will take.

Unless things have changed drastically, Grade point averages only go up to 4.0.

Unless things have changed drastically, Grade point averages only go up to 4.0.

A lot of high schools give extra points on the GPA for advanced level classes. For instance, an A in an AP calculus course might count as 5 points or 4.5 points instead of the usual 4.

So, it is not unusual to see kids with GPAs above 4.0.

Eville. Scoutrival list Evansville's interest in Z. House as "medium", and no scholarship has been offered. Do you know if the "medium" interest is Zach's or UE's?

Interest level is always the recruits interest in the school. Or, at least how the recruiting site views it.

There are other grading scales besides the most commonly used 4.0 scale. In some scales they use a 5.0 system. This is based on the idea that they don't want to give a 0. It supposed to be based on psychological findings or something. When a student fails they get a 1 out of a 5 instead of a 0 out of 4.
A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, F=1

So if that is the case they player would be a B+ student on the 5 scale grading system.

according to windycityhshoops.com , it says Zach is looking at Evansville. I'm sure this does not nullify his earlier quote about Nevada. But, it looks like this is coming down between Nevada and Evansville. Let's hope playing closer to home and more guaranteed playing time will turn Zach House to the Purple Aces. :aces:

Let's hope Marty can do a great sells job for Zach. To get a player like him this late in the recruiting process would be quite a coup.

I just read that Nevada filled their last open scholarship this afternoon...a kid named Ray Kraemer. It appears as if the finalists may now be Evansville then Penn.

Come on Coach Simmons, bring this kid to UE.

That's what I would call the big kid from Carbondale that SIU signed, after seeing him play a few times last year. Hopefully both will turn out to be good players.

Are you sure that was Neveda's last scholarship? No mention of that on Neveda's website or in the Reno-Gazette. Regardless, let's hope Coach Simmons reels Zach in. :aces: :valley:

Just as an FYI.....the LOI (letter of intent) period ended yesterday. Players can not sign a letter of intent now. Any commitment to any school at this point would be verbal only, and are not binding.....so, until the kid actually enrolls in classes at a particular shcool, there are no guarantees.

In other words, a kid could commit to Evansville today, but end up somewhere else without penalty.

I have never seen House play, but if he is like most foooters, if Evansville would be in the hunt for him, he would be considered a "project" and not quite ready for prime time, I would rather have a 6'9-10 stud than most footers I have seen, Evansville already has the Belguim kid for a project, they need a big kid that can contribute now
