According to Morgan Park coach Paris Parham, Isiah Martin is down to Boston University and Indiana State. The Sycamores have made a late push for the 6-9 center. Parham said Martin will make his decision in the next couple of weeks.
Indiana State winning the recruiting war against Evansville. Aaron Carter chose Indiana State over UE and now the Sycamores look to steal the long time Evansville target.

Damn. I hate losing him. But for the sake of the Valley, I hope he goes to ISU. But I have no doubt that Marty will find the right guy for the Aces.

How many scholarships does UE have available? What is the status of the guys who signed in the fall.....are they still commited to UE after the coaching change?

This is really good news...come play in the Valley Isiah!! You'll be fairly close to home and maybe play against guys you played against in high school which is always fun.
Great upside for this kid...hope it happens.

I know they have at least two available. And yes, they are still committed to Brandon Hopf and Johnathon VanHouse, whom signed in April. But as dumb luck would have it, both of these kids last winter tore an achiles tendon on the same day. They are looking at a long rehab and most likely will have to redshirt. Hopf is a 6'9 post player who was being considered by Michigan State, so his loss is particlulary hurtfull to the Aces program.

Isiah Martin is a 6'9" 215 lb, long lanky center from Chicago. He is considered one of the top defensive post players in this year's class. This season he averaged over 16 pts, 11 boards, and an amazing 5 blocks in a tough Chicago hoops league. A lot of potential for this kid who got looks from Northwestern and even Kentucky.
Indiana State will get one heck of a player if they sign him. I figured he would've been a 4 year starter at UE, but I guess Indiana State had more to offer.

No, No, Isiah Martin is 100% healthy. 2 of our recruits Hopf and Van Hoose have torn ACL's

That's not what McBull told me. From what I understand, it's a complete tear.

My question is, why would he consider the Sycamores or Aces over
Boston University?

Because they're both better programs than Boston University and they're closer to home? You might be thinking of Boston College.

My answer to your question is why would he consider Boston U. over the Sycamores. It is not Boston College of the ACC, Big East or wherever they play. It is Boston University. Two totally different entities.

Maybe he's a big Howard Stern fan?? I'm pretty sure that's where Howard went...but I'm guessing you're thinking it's BC not BU as well.
Hopefully he wants to play closer to home...in a better league...and in front of more people (BU gym doesn't hold many I hear.)

C'mon...give the Valley at least a little love. Even it was Boston College recruiting Isiah, ISU would't be all that bad of a decison. Could be a 4 year starter in a great leauge for a city that is starving for great basketball. :valley:

Nothing against Indiana St. or Evansville, but are they even close to being on par academically with a school like Boston University? I remember reading somewhere that Boston U was one of the strongest non-Ivy schools on the Eastern Seaboard.
Perhaps Martin is a rare kid that is putting his academic interests ahead of basketball? I know he desperately wanted an offer from Northwestern and that's certainly one of the finest institutions in the country. So perhaps this choice has more to do with academics than basketball?
Just a thought.

Depends on the program he's looking at. Indiana State actually has several programs ranked among the top 10 in the country. Insurance and Risk Management, Athletic Training, Geography/Geology are just a few. The overall University ranking might not be as high as BU, but he could hit an academic homerun with several ISU programs.

My guess is that you will find out by the end of this week. Though he lists ISU and Boston as his choices, I have a hunch he is still waiting for another particular offer. I do hope he choses the Valley. :valley: :aces: :sycamores:

Nelly was the head coach of the Mavs while Avery was his asst. Nelly knew all his secrets, but Avery did not know much about what he (Nelly) was doing at Golden State. Here, McKenna knows:sycamores: :sycamores: all about the Bluejays, but does Altman know about the Sycamores? Thats kinda what I am saying.

Oh, I thought it was something like Creighton is owned by Mark Cuban and McKenna didn't get along with Cuban while at Creighton. Now that he's broken free from Creighton, he wants to exact some revenge. I thought the issue was further complicated by the fact that Dirk Nowitzki plays for Creighton, is a friend of McKenna and also doesn't care for Cuban. Therefore, Altman's main weapon will allow for the Sycamores to win.
Thanks for getting me straight on that.

Has Martin signed his LOI yet? I would hate to see this kid change his mind, but it appears Illinois State is rumored to be on the verge of signing his HS coach Paris Parham as an Asst. Coach. Let's hope Martin honors his commitment to the Sycs.

You can be sure he is a Sycamore! His coach must have come aboard the Red ISU without any promises........rare in this day! A mind change at this point in time would be disastrous for the player.........lay out like maybe 2 yrs. for an in-conf. transfer?
