tongue in cheek.................we are all "Know it All" Posters on VT.
Why does no Valley team have a rivals.com site? Is it cost-prohibitive, etc.? I notice very few "mids" have one.........maybe it's a BCS thing and we don't want to enrich their coffers?
Also, here is a link to Alford's Blog. Suppose this will take the place of the recently outlawed text messages with recruits? If Kelvin Sampson starts one, all coaches better get onboard.

I think most of the MVC schools had Rivals.com sites at one point....I know that Drake did.
Rivals has become primarily a football site.....I'm not sure if there are any schools left on Rivals that don't play 1-A football...haven't looked at their list of sites recently.
I see that Alford's ego hasn't shrunk at all....nice of him to point out how he would be featured on that ESPN special of college basketball's greatest shooters. Hey....look at me.....I'm Steve Alford.

Just checked their list of teams.....it's all 1-A football teams or teams that play in leagues that have 1-A football.

Rivals also has some sites for A10 schools: Dayton, Richmond, Xavier, Duquesne...
And there's a site for Oral Roberts. Can't explain that one.

While we are asking questions, I stumbled across this while researching some stats on Butler. Does anyone know about the Horizon League Network? If you check out the Horizon League's Wikipedia entry (which by the way, we need to improve ours), they say this about the Horizon League Network and I checked it out on their site and it seems valid:
In 2006, the Horizon League Network (HLN) was launched as the centerpiece of a revamped web portal.[7] In partnership with CSTV, the broadband network airs over 200 live events for free on the League's official website. Events include regular season basketball games, tournament matches, archived championships, The Horizon League Report, and other programming from the array of athletics the league sponsors. Its coverage complements events televised on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and members' local sports networks.
This sounds like a pretty cool idea and I was wondering if we could do something similar? I know we already work with CSTV (or at least the individual schools do) to get the games that are not otherwise broadcast for a price and I have listened to several games on the radio stations that the Valley website links to, but I would much prefer to have the free video that the Horizon seems to be getting. I am sure not all the Horizon games are on the free service, but even if some were, that would be pretty cool and I would like to have that for the Valley. Would this be cost prohibitive? Does the CSTV contract or the FSN contract prohibit this?

The Horizon League offers free streaming for all league men's & women's games for sure; don't know if all non-conf games are involved also. I'm even thinking some volleyball and other minor sports are included?

I know Royal has said in the past that he looked into joining Rivals but it didn't make sense financially. I believe he's considered Scout, which apparently has a better deal than Rivals, but the vast majority of SN posters turned down the idea. I'd love to be on the network but only if we had someone who was willing to put in the time to keep up with recruiting at a level where it would be a benefit. Right now we all just get scraps of news from those who have a network if we're mentioned. I'm not sure what states have thier own HS sites and how well they're done, but Texas keeps up with a lot of thier instate kids and that's how I find a lot of Shocker news with recruits. Thank God we recruit Texas I guess.

I believe the Oral Roberts site is no longer in use, and they have moved to an independant message board similar to those most Valley teams have.

ShockerNet has been courted by both networks in the last 6 months. One of them already had a content "writer" lined up to cover WSU. They definitely want to get MVC schools into their mix.
Those networks live off of premium memberships, with members-only forums. It creates a haves vs. have-nots atmosphere, something that, at this point, neither SN users or staff want.
