...All expense paid trip to a road MVC game on a private jet: $13,000... Being a card-carrying member of the Shocker Nation: Priceless
Looks like the Gregg Marshall Golf Classic and Auction was a big hit this year. Reports are that more money was raised this year than any other year in the history of the event. The auctions alone raised around $100,000. The golf classic was packed with a foursome running $1,400 and individuals $400.
Highlights of the party:
"Coach Marshall's wife Lynn won a bidding war for a very cool Shocker golf cart. Many gave her a standing ovation after she won."
Coach commented that he is not used to having his own private jet for recruiting trips... Welcome to Shocker Nation coach!
It's a great day to be a Shocker!

Nice to see that you're taking things one "day" at a time rather than one "decade" at a time.

Wow, $10,500 for dinner and a game. Thats almost as cool as poking my eyes out with a white hot poker. I bet people are lined up around the block for this deal.

Actually it was bid up to that price, so there were people lined up to pay around that figure.. so to speak. I believe the winning bid only includes dinner, tickets to a game might be extra.. :innocent:

I guess you don't.....judging by the reaction in your photo...did Mrs. Pardus take it? She (he?) should be commended.
A word of advice to her though....might want to have someone else develop her shots.

This is not me, this was taken at my birthday party last year. This guy just showed up. He spiked the punch and then drank it all before anyone could enjoy it, he impregnated three different young women, and then screamed "Livin' On A Prayer" at the top of his lungs until five local deputies and a large grizzly bear had to bring him down. Overall I'd say the party was a success.

Since this was what I assume to be the first year of the Gregg Marshall Golf Classic and Auction, wouldn't any amount raised be a record?

It was previously called the Mark Turgeon Celebrity Golf Tournament and Auction. So while the fund-raiser has a fairly decent history, someone thought it appropriate to change the name! :original: Apparently people are really geeked up on this new guy Marshall!

Ahh yes, potato salad, chips, baked beans, beer, and a hamburger. Now I am impressed.
In Omaha for $16, you can have lunch with Dana - steak, baked potato, mostaccioli, and bread. Which is a better deal?

Except for the fact that I will be out of the office, I would post on just about anything here. Just maybe, if a thread was originated, I would post on a topic about where and when cows turd. You live in Kansas; you know they have competitions.

Gypsy Rosie Lee was a picture of indecision.
After being thrust into the Kansas Expocentre's Domer Arena before 100 onlookers Wednesday night, the Holstein dairy cow didn't appear at all comfortable, standing stiffly with an expression of doubt mixed with betrayal.
Rosie served as the centerpiece of the Great Cowpie Drop, the fund- raising kickoff for the refurbishment of the Jayhawk State Theatre of Kansas, S.W. 7th and Jackson. Sponsored by the Jayhawk Theatre Society, the event was the first step in raising the $6 million needed to restore the movie house, which served Topekans from 1926 to 1976, said Doug Jernigan, president of the society.
"It's absolutely stunning as a facility," he said of the building that could at one time seat 1,500 people. "That's a facility for anybody. It doesn't matter who you work for or what your income level is. It's just a place to have fun."
The cow pie drop --- in which people purchased 2-foot squares on the arena floor in hopes of garnering a deposit by Rosie --- raised about $15,000 for the society through ticket sales, Jernigan said. However, $5,000 each would go to the owner of the soiled square and toward publicity for the event.
But after nearly 2 1/2 hours of cud chewing, Rosie did the society a favor and dropped a cow pie on an unpurchased square, which allowed the Jayhawk Theatre Society to keep the prize money.
"It landed directly in the center of the square. There was no question," Jernigan said.
Topekan James Jones, who attended the event with his 12-year-old son, Jason, said he didn't count heavily on being successful with his two purchased squares. In fact, he didn't even know where they were located.
Actually, and I don't believe I'm in the minority here, I've managed to grow up and live my whole life in this state without gaining any farm knowledge whatsoever.
I know what grades of cattle make the cuts of steak I like best, but that's about as far as it goes.

Just take a look at who started this thread. Enough said. It was mentioned in a thread on shockernet and that thread was not even a full page long. It was interesting to hear about because it was local. Why Cold felt it necessary to post on VT, I don't know, but everyone here knows Cold so there is no reason to apologize for his taking your time. This is a local matter and should not be of interest to anyone other than WSU fans and supporters.
That being said, once you realize what the thread is about, no one is forcing you to read it or resond to it. Just ignore it.

In my opinion Turgeon moving to Texas A&M was more of a lateral move than a "step up". Scheduling will be easier, recruiting should be easier but when it's all said and done he will be fighting for a ticket to the dance just like he was over here.
Considering the tradition and tremendous support Wichita State receives, the Shocker Nation expected a lot more out of Mr. Turgeon. Yes, he rebuilt a program that was ailing from several years of bad decisions and achieved the kind of NCAA success that fans from programs like Creighton can only dream of, but we expect more and hopefully will get more from his successor.
Our basketball program should be on the level of our baseball program in regards to competitiveness in the Valley and nobody will be satisfied until we get there. Hopefully Marshall is the man to do it.
I think Turgeon snuck out the back door when he considered how much potential loot he would lose if he put together another piss-poor season. IMO the man simply ran out of gas and scurried off to the "friendly" confines of a 60mm dollar athletic budget and a school that considers its winter sport to be Football and its spring sport to be "speculations over what their football team will do next year". While the pressure will be high if he flounders, it won't last long and his office will eventually be moved to the back of the supply room where people can just forget about him. In the meantime, he still gets paid.
P.S.
It is surprising that a "stepping stone" comment would come from a Creighton fan.. actually I take that back.. you all aren't too bright.
