Well, since the meaningful part of the season is effectively over, where do you go from here?

1. Bill Rowe must resign effective immediately. This is a no-brainer, full-on lock. Bill Rowe is the primary reason the Bears are in the NIT. Guess what, Bill? Cleveland State isn't walking through that door. Spoon ain't walking through that door. The game has passed you by. You haven't made a good hire in years, and your "selections" of Arkansas State and South Florida for the schedule are the reason this team's out. If you had any self-respect, you'll resign tomorrow before you screw up anything else.

2. Barry Hinson--you talk a big game, but the inabilitiy to finish big games will be your downfall. The team was completely unprepared for the MVC tournament, and that clinched it. You're certainly a nice guy, but you don't do the things well that a school like MSU needs you to do well, such as scheduling and halftime adjustments. It'd probably be best for you to get hired by K-State, because a bigger conference and a consistently good non-conference schedule will be to your advantage. You'll drop some one-liners in the next couple of days, and you'll talk about doing well in the NIT, which you'll probably do because the games are meaningless.

3. Doug Elgin--a monkey could have gotten four teams in this tournament this year. Therefore, you are as competent as a monkey. It's becoming very clear that it's going to be inordinately difficult to get an MVC team a fair seed and a fair bid. That's on you.

MSU's next game will be a game no one follows in a tournament no one cares about. The result is pointless. The changes within the program itself are WAY more important. Someone needs to learn how to schedule, and there needs to be a big upgrade in leadership within the athletic department.

Oh, yeah, I forgot something.

It is time for MSU to do what is good for MSU and for NO ONE ELSE. There is NO WAY that MSU should play in the Bracket Buster next year. None. I don't care what Elgin says, because he hasn't done anything for MSU in years. There is NO WAY MSU should help some other meaningless team make their little schedule. Forget it. Cancel the UW-M return game. They're losing much of their team, and it isn't going to do MSU any good. Cancel the SLU game. At best, they're average. Not good enough. The committee, no matter how clueless and misguided they are, sent a message--you have to win games against name teams. In other words, forget about home games. Forget about Arkansas State and the Cupcake Classic. Cancel it. EVERY GAME should be against name teams, whether at home or on the road. If you have a losing non-conference record, so what? It doesn't matter. It'll prepare you for the MVC Tournament.

If we want to be treated like a BCS school, we have to act like it. Forget Elgin's little meaningless demands. Forget these other garbage teams. You've been told what to do. Now go do it.

Winning games in the NIT is the only way you have to show you should have been in the Dance. Prove the point. Go beat somebody.

It will be interesting to see if the revamped NIT is better than the old one. I could see Mo State being crushed by missing the Big Dance and laying an egg, but doing well in the NIT would show that Mo State was a deserving team and could serve as a springboard to future success. Syracuse was in the NIT Final in 02 and then won the NCAA Tournament in 03.

And the last three NIT champs didn't even make the NCAA the following year. Great "point".

Now why all the hate toward Doug Elgin? He's the reason why the Valley has made the strides it has? No one is going to confuse the Valley with the Big East, but to have the Valley earn as many bids as three BCS conferences is a great accomplishment! Now the teams in the Big Dance have to show they belong there, while the teams in the NIT can show that they deserved to have been there as well! :valley:

People pick on Elgin because they have to have someone to blame.

Well, then they should blame Hinson for his scheduling, or his AD for approving the schedule.
