I HATE JIM NANTZ AND BILLY PACKER!!!!!

Absolute IDIOTS!

Of course the big teams advance, they get MORE teams in the tournament and they get better seeds!!!!! OF COURSE THEY WILL ADVANCE MORE OFTEN!

Tell your BIG SCHOOLS to play Colonial teams and MVC teams and then we can see if they are worthy. I assure you Colonial and MVC teams are choosing NOT to play the big boys.

THE ARE SO FULL OF IT!!

No kinding why dont we just get rid of all the auromatic bids so none of the big schools get left out..cause thats basically what NAntz seems to want

I agree, if they complain about the MVC and CAA getting multiple bids, then the smaller conferences automatics should be taken away since they would not even be considered if not for the auto bid.

The MVC did not get treatment equal to the ACC and The Big 12. Nantz and Packer missed this point completely and Littlepage screwed up by not mentioning that the seeding for the ACC and The Big 12 was superior to the MVC. That is were the difference in the strengths of the conferences showed up. The highest MVC seed was a 7, all others were double didgit seeds. The ACC had a one and a three, the big 12 a 2 and a three. It's not just the number of bids, its the seeds.

Nantz and Packer act like the MVC got equal treatment, they didn't.

The greatest injustice in the history of sport is having Nantz/Packer sit in as authorities on College Hoops.

Dis Nantz ever play the game?

Nantz and Packer are both classless idiots. That moment was just humiliating for the Valley, and I hope the Valley goes out and KICKS SERIOUS ***. Kudos to the selection committee chairman for his comments about the "power conferences" needing to go out and and schedule teams.

Note to Nantz and Packer, you buffoons, the power conferences DON'T PLAY TEAMS FROM THE VALLEY!!!!

I censored my post personally as I'm sure many will attempt to do in the following comments. Just trying to help the mods out as it was pretty ugly at the house watching those two horse asses with their questions and comments for the chairman. :ranting:

I noticed how Nantz insisted on reading off the non-con opponents of Bradley & George Mason......like all those BCS teams that got left out played much better OOC schedules.

Get a clue, Nantz! :cursing:

I wish I could put all derogatory words into one, then it would some up how I feel about these too moronic, bumbling, iditoc, ***-kissing, BCSkool-aid drinking *******'in, toe licking, cow sniffing, butt munches.

The MVC got screwed in both bids and seeds.

I'm searching for their work emails tomorrow.

Oh yeah, that was a cheap shot. He took advantage of his position to give a one-sided view of the situation by reading factual, but completely misleading information. Those OOC schedules were just about equal to the other bubble teams from major conferences. I lost a lot of respect for Nantz today, not because of his opinion, but because of his incredibly unfair argument of it.

Yes, that little exhibition by Nance was pretty lame.

He even seemed somewhat embarrassed over the point he was trying to make.

Many times, guys like Nance and Packer go out of their way to create controversial news and this was one of those times.

Air Force, Utah State, and Seton Hall should have all been NIT bound, and Cincinnati, Missouri State, and Creighton should have all been in instead.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Jim Nantz and Fred Couples were college roomates at Houston, I believe, so all Nantz knows about is golf and chasing dumb blondes with Freddie.

This was in Sports Illustrated:

People who continue to wonder why teams in the Missouri Valley Conference have higher RPIs than those in some of the power conferences should take a look at the nonfonference schedules of the MVC teams. According to CollegeRPI.com (http://collegeRPI.com), the 10 schools in the Valley have an average nonconference strength-of-schedule ranking of 133.9. Compare that to the averages of the Big 12(146.4), Pac-10(153.5) and ACC(172.8 ). Some of the bubble teams in the major conferences are the worst offenders: California(No. 168 in nonconference SOS), Texas A&M(252), Colorado(268) and Florida State(317). If the big boys are unhappy when their leagues get fewer bids than the Valley on Selection Sunday, perhaps they should think a little bigger when deciding on their early-season schedules.

Of course, this information was never even mentioned.

I was also irritated that they tried to use teams history in the tourney as justification for putting them in. Like UNC should get credit this year for winning the tourney last year. That is complete BS. I thought the committee chair did very well to not lose his cool and tell the two of them to eff off. Like Elgin said, any body can win an argument with a selective set of data. Those two clowns were trying to get the chaiman to say that he thought the valley was better than the ACC or Big XII, when that wasn't what the committee was saying at all. What the committee said this year was that the three at-large candidates for the Valley were better than the other options from those conferences, which is exactly true. I felt somewhat redeemed that Clark Kellogg and Seth Davis got the last word and were saying the exact opposite of the two windbags. Davis said he thought it was great that conferences like the MVC were finally given a chance after all of the unfair advantages that the bigger conferences already have. He said that the committee is trying to send a message to the big conferences to play better OOC schedules.

And now the conference gets the "honor" of having its title game aired by a network that seems to actively work against its success. Great deal.

I had always liked and respected Jim Nantz until today. He made an @ss out of himself, and ESPN and various other media outlets are calling him out on it (the Peoria Journal Star had a nice commentary from Doug Elgin on those comments). I guess Nantz forgot that his network is signed on to broadcast the MVC title game for years to come. So much for the network self-promotion.

A local radio station played a clip on Nantz on Westwood radio from Sunday night railing on all midmajors. He says that the valley should have gotten "at most 2 teams in". He didn't say which ones should have been in. The host challenged him saying what major programs should have gotten those spots and he just stammered around, not coming up with a better choice. He also railed on MSU's OOC schedule and compared it to UCONN's (I don't know why) saying UCONN's was so much better. I don't think anyone believes MSU deserved to go in over UCONN so that made no sense.

The guy just shot all of his credibility out the window. I can only guess it is because he doesn't want to have to research new teams for the games he broadcasts, he justs wants the same old familiar teams. I used to think he was a level headed guy that was good when paired with Billy pACCer's outrageous, nonsensical ramblings, but I guess I was wrong.

Here is what is gonna happen. The Big East, Big Televen, ACC, Big XII, SEC are all gonna merge and become the Big NCAA Conference. That represents pretty damn near all of the 64 bids needed to form their own tournament.

The NCAA will, of course (after having received the under-the-table payoff), not hesitate to endorse this move.

Get ready for the anti-trust lawsuits to fly......and you and i will be :wheelchair: before justice is served.

So a 63 team super ultra mega conference...fits perfectly well into the bracket, except the play in game...I am assuming the PAC 10 gets the rights to the play in game?

How about this: We have the BCS Mens Basketball Tournament, and then the "sucks to be a mid major" mens basketball tournament.

Nyghtewynd

Gets the *rights* to the play-in game? The Pac 10 *is* the play-in game.

How about looking at the history of BCS schools that have a double digit seed aholes!!!! I bet that is no better than the MVC record and that's all the Valley gets. CU had the 6 seed in Korver's senior year and nothing better than a 10 in the other 6 years since DA's run started.

They're comparing apples and oranges by comparing the MVC's recent history against the ACC's #1 seeds of Duke, No. Carolina, etc.

WHAT AHOLES - GOD, I'M STILL MAD!!!!!

Of the 34 at large bids... 31 conference tourney winners in... the Big 6 (you know who they are) got 28 at large bids for an ave. of 82%, what more can they ask for.... From now on let CBS have all the Big6 teams play in the big dance and see what kind of ratings they would get..Alot of people tune in to see a possible upset or two in the the Big Dance.
