WIN

Listen, Missouri State got SCREWD! We all know this. Hell Creighton should have been in over Air Force and Utah State. The solution to the problem is simple. The only team that is obligated to win is Wichita State. They are the only valley team that is a higher seed, thus they must not get upset. Plus it’s Seton Hall so they better win. Next, we need at least one of the other valley teams to get a big upset. I am partial to Bradley over Kansas but it doesn’t really matter in the end as long as someone eles wins. Two upsets would be ideal. That is 3 of 4 valley teams to the next round. Then only one of those teams needs to win. Boom! Validation. Maybe not to the BCS morons but take a look at how the BSC schools do when they are seeded that poorly. 3 teams advancing and one in the 16 would be huge.

After that we need an MVC team to go to the NIT final 4 and win. I know. I know. The NIT doesn’t mean anything right? Wrong! If a Creighton or Missouri State wins the NIT doesn’t that say something? It says that team was deserving of an at large bid but more importantly it would mean that an MVC team would have beaten multiple BCS teams that also feel as if they should have gotten in. We need every win we can against big conference teams to prove the Valleys worth.

Winning the NIT doesn't say anything. It never says anything. It doesn't predict future results, it doesn't get anyone's attention, it doesn't mean jack. I know the whole rah-rah thing is going to go around, but let's be realistic. The NIT functions to give more money to the NCAA and to fill dead air on ESPN, and that's all, and no one should be interested in either. If you're going to show up, you might as well win, but MSU could win every game by 60 and it would be forgotten by next October if it were ever remembered at all.

Who won the NIT three years ago? The last three champs were South Carolina, Michigan, and St. Johns. How'd that work out for them? Oh yeah. None of them have done anything of note since.

i dont know who won the last three NITs but i know it wasnt WSU. yeah, i would rather turn on ESPN and see Creighton get stomped in the first round of the NIT cuz it doenst matter anyway.:banghead:

i dont care if they are playing in the WNIT i want them to win. and it is better for the program to win games. would you rather lose in the NIT?

I think I made it pretty clear above that it doesn't matter whether they win or lose in the NIT. I want the program to succeed, and winning NIT games has nothing to do with the program succeeding.

what is worse than going to the NCAA? The NIT.

What is worse than going to the NIT? Losing in the NIT.

What is worse than losing in the NIT? Not going to the NIT.

all are varying degrees of success. when wins stop translating into success i will stop watching basketball.

You can keep writing the same post all you want, and I'm going to keep writing the same response. For successful programs, the goal is the NCAAs or bust. Everything else is equal. It is a billion times more important that MSU fix the things that it can fix in-house than it is to win meaningless games with a team that's going to be different next year. Maybe it'd be different if a coach treated it as what it was and gave the vast majority of the playing time to the non-seniors, but noone ever does so.

NIT has become real meaningless the past few years. Even as a hardcore Valley fan, its hard to get excited about making time to watch Valley NIT games.

who said anything about watching it? hell i just think they need to win. even if you dont have the same team next year. i agree that it should be NCAA or bust but "you play the game to win!" herm
