Kuric just got a full ride offer from Louisville. That would be my guess as to where he ends up. He has however been to Carbondale a couple time and lists SIU and MIchigan along with Louisville in his final 3.

I have watched Kyle Kuric play almost every game for Memorial High School this past two years, and he is good. He can definetly shoot, rebound, and finish at the rim. His one fault is his defense. I don't know if it is because of his lack of desire to play defense, or what, but Kyle Kuric would not fit in with SIU because of how defensive minded they are. Everyone on this site knows about the suffocating D they play, and I just don't see Kuric buckling down and playing hard-nosed D like the rest of the team. I can see him playing for Michigan, and fitting in well there. Anyone else thinking the same as me?

I don't think Chris Lowery is thinking along those lines.

Maybe C-Lo is thinking that SIU needs some offense even if it takes away from some D?

It's nice to read something from someone who has not only seen him play but several times at that. I agree that if he doesn't play defense that it would be tough for him to get playing time at Southern. That being said, though, C-Lo likes the kid a lot and must feel that he's either going to 'get' him to play defense or sacrifice his own principles somewhat to get a very good offensive player onboard.

I agree it is nice to hear from someone who has seen him over a long period. So a question I would want to know then is how athletic is he? If he is athletic, then it is just a matter of desire, something C-Lo can fix. But, when he is playing other high school teams, if he is not the most athletic kid on the floor ... then defense is a problem that is harder to fix.
If I was Kuric or a kid like him, I would have to think SIU is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you are going to have to work your butt off not only in playing defense, but becoming fit enough to do so for an entire game twice a week. That usually takes kids at least a year and sometimes 2. But, on the other hand, if you are fairly offensive minded, you can really stand out on a team like SIU, much in the way Tatum did, who managed to get some NBA looks. Whereas at Louisville or Michigan, everyone can shoot the ball, you play less, and even when you do play, you don't stand out.
It is a tough call. In the end, I think this kid goes to Louisville. Pitino, new downtown arena, final 4 trips in recent past, Big East ... that is a lot to overcome for SIU.

I agree does not fit in with SIU stlye at all. He fits better with UE but he has said many times over he is not going to be on Lincoln Ave. next year. Don't know where he will land but SIU, IMO, would not be the right place for him.

Gotta disagree ...Kuric will thrive at SIU if he signs there...great court vision, great shooter, loves the game and dont forget defense can be and at SIU is taught...you can teach shooters to play D but you cant teach D players who cant shoot a lick to be Pete Maravich. .....time will tell but if Kyle signs at SIU look for him to have a great carreer there.

I could not agree more. Kyle is an absolute stud who could play for anybody. Clo has alwaybs been able to pick out kids who maybe were being overlooked. No one is overlooking Kyle. He won't be a Tatum type of defender, but as the above post pointed out, that can be taught much easier...particularly if a kid knows his playing time is at stake.

According to Scout, Kuric has been given a "this weekend" decision deadline by SIU.

Well, it after 7 pm, so I don't think SIU should hold its breath any longer. :Jumpy::Jumpy:

Kuric cancelled STL visit, dropped Michigan, down to SIU and LVILLE.
