No, nothing behind the scenes. LGB asked me to change the name as a personal favor so I said that I would. Nothing more than that. It's back up now and if you have a name that you would rather have it be called, let me know.

Site is back up, but it looks like it was restored to mid July.

I imagine they used a ghost image and reset the site.

Has Missouri State set an NCAA record for the most dead and decaying websites?

Apathy. Also known as the BArry Hinson effect.

Well I was warned by Steve that I would be contacted by the MSU legal team, but there's nothing illegal about running a message board where people express their own opinions.

1?
its a shame about lgb.com
it had close to 2500 members and over 100,000 posts.

It was a good thought, but then this happened:
Warning!
Only registered members are allowed to access this forum.
So... I have to hand over some personal info to determine whether the site is worth visiting? Screw that.
"Register in order to lurk" is a stupid idea. Let me know when that policy changes, and I'll give the site another look.

They can't find their own crack without a map when it comes to a little old lady filing nuisance suits but they can bluff a season ticket holder who leaned heavily to protecting the staff/administration. The real crack legal team members are not on retainer for MSU but are boosters specializing in criminal law. They allow their fellow yellow seaters to correctly make the claim that Barry's players never make the newspaper for legal troubles.

Imagine that - people posting things they know absolutely nothing about on an internet message board.

I have no problem with requiring registration (and, for that matter, human-moderated approval) in order to post messages. You wanna put words on someone else's site, you gotta jump a couple hurdles.
My beef is with the concept that a person needs to register before they can READ messages. Most boards allow anonymous browsing; how many spammers pollute the digital air at ValleyTalk? (And no, Saluki fans don't count.) :innocent:
It's a sports forum. There's nothing confidential or privileged or secret being discussed. Why hide the forum from people who might want to lurk and read awhile before signing up?

One reason is to keep traffic down if you don't have enough resources to handle it. But unless that is the case, I would leave it open for viewing also.

Ohhh, I agree with you now. There's not an option for that or I would do that for sure.

Should have known that someone with the name Jerry Seinfeld in his name would lack originality and any humor.
It's a given.

New board looks great! Best of luck with it. SycamoreHoops.com is off to a very good start and I don't see any reasons why yours won't either.
