Jays up 19-12 at the 8 minute TO. Looking good - far better than Drexel but not hitting 3's while Drexel is or this would be ugly so far.
Jays getting all rebounds and steals.

Drexel got their aces handed to them against George Mason a few nights ago. I think they're quite a few notches down from a year ago. This should be a CU win.
Keep it up.

Jays 1-13 from 3 at the half and I remember 1 being guarded  but still up 31-18 at half. We are so much better than this bunch. Gotta play well the first 5 minutes of the half and get the crowd out of it. Man, do they play in a bandbox. It holds about 2,000 and is very loud.

Jays have forced over 20 first half turnovers if they keep this up in the second half shouldn't be much of a game.

A couple observations/questions:
1.) Drexel is a really, really bad team, even at home.
2.) How many points does God have so far?
3.) Why does Creighton keep shooting 3's? I think I saw they were at 13% (2-16). They're far more productive when they go inside.

The 3's have been open but they are stinkin it up===2 for 21. Shooting 41% from 3 coming in but agreed they need to pound it in more.
The refs {MVC of course} have really made this a choppy game as they just can't hear their whistles enough.:ranting:

P only ended up with about 7 or 9 points but Cavel Witter, soph backup point guard, went off for 20 and is 23 for 23 at the line to start his CU career.

Stinnett passed up on a sure dunk late in the game in order to pass it out and run some clock.
Witter had a big, big game for the team. First ever D1 game on the road for our diaper dandies. Witter stepped up and couldn't miss. Drexel also had no way to stop Witter's speed as he went coast to coast a couple of different times.
Sloppy, but I'm pleased the way the youngsters didn't lose heart after all the 3's kept clanging out. Should be a good confidence builder in preparation for Wednesday's game at Xavier.

Winning by 24 on the road in a hostile environment is good no matter how crappy the opposition is. It looks like Altman is putting another competent squad together for '07-'08 -no surprise there.

Yeah, at least right now, there is something wrong with Drexel. They aren't playing well at all. They were 5-1 going into the George Mason game with the only loss on the road to Top 25 Virginia {by about 12} and they really pretty much suck right now. Elegar killed us last year and he was a non-factor with something like 9 points and 2 rebounds.

Drexel looked god awful. I didn't think Creighton played particularly well and they won by 24 on the road. I think Drexel had 55 turnovers or something like that. If CU doesn't tighten some things up, we will get smoked against Xavier next week.

Pretty solid road win by the BJ's. Drexel was bad, but still like mentioned before, winning by 24 on the road in a pretty good environment is impressive. Pretty good payback too.
My only disappointment: God with only 7 or 9 points? WTF?? You hafta convert those non-believers with a sure slamma-jamma at the end. Comee onnn...
In all seriousness, nice road win Jays!

Also, Elegar had about the most bonheaded play I have ever seen, fouls out and then spikes the ball about 40 feet in the air right in front of the officials, gets the T, then bruiser flint gets a T, all this after Drexel had it to a 12 point lead with over 7 to go. Jays hit 8 free throws in a row after this display and the game was over. Drexel pretty much handed the game to the Jays on a silver platter.

Elegar didn't slam the ball that was the teamate w/ the hard to pronounce last name that started w/ an O...it sounded African though the announcers said he was from Belgium? Anywho, Elegar didn't slam the ball...

Duke Tshomba, one of Turgeon's first recruits, was also from Belgium.

my bad, different name, same difference, boneheaded and cost them any chance they had getting back into the game.

Still won't make a full judgment until after the game against X this week. I think if they stay within 5-8 points against them it'll be a good showing, Xavier can be a tough place to play, especially when their fans are tired of sending their teams to the Qwest Center to get beat the last few seasons.
However, if you said the last couple of seasons that a Creighton team went 4-24 from the 3pt line, I'd say they'd lost by 20+. (Much less a win...or a win by 24!). There were some solid players the last couple of years, but those teams had to be such a deliberate one-sided style to win, and when they played that way, they were hard to beat...see the MVC tournament last year. But there was little wiggle room if they had a bad night shooting (see the Fresno State or Indiana State games last season).
This year, there are so many dynamics to this team. As soon as people are ready to settle in with a particular player to be the "go-to" scorer, someone new leads the teams in points (this time around it was Witter).
