Since I see this discussion in a lot of other threads, I thought it was a good questions to pose to all. The valley doesn't really have a marquee out of conference win yet this year, so I was wondering what everyone thought was the best win by a Valley team so far this year. In case you need to who everyone has beaten, here's the Valley Victim's from that thread:
Victims
DePaul(Big East)--CU
NIU(MAC)--UNI
Cal Poly(Big West)--UNI
UMass(A10)--UNI
Arkansas-Pine Bluff(SWAC)--WSU
SEMO-(OVC)--ISU(red)
Iowa State-(Big12)--BU
UNC-G(Southern)--MSU
Miss Valley St(SWAC)--CU
NIU(MAC)--SIU
Maryland ES(MEAC)--BU
UNCW(CAA)--ISU(red)
@Wis-Mill(Horizon)--UNI
N-Ill-Chicago(Horizon)--WSU
NIU(MAC)--ISU(blue)
Fl Gulf Coast(ASun)--BU
SLU(A10)--MSU
N-UT-Chatt(SoCon)--SIU
N-Mississippi State(SEC)--SIU
N-Iowa(Big10)--BU
@Ball State(MAC)--UE
NU(Big12)--CU
IPFW(Summit)--InSt
@Wis-Mil(Horizon)--DU
Wyoming(MWC)--WSU
@Winthrop(BigSouth)--MSU
@Iowa State(Big12)--UNI

@Drexel(CAA)--CU

Duquesne(A10)--DU
Absolutely no game stands out too much to me. Maybe Creighton beating Depaul and Nebraska? UNI over UMASS? SIU over Miss. St? Iowa State and Iowa are terrible so those aren't that big for BU.

Duquense is picked third in the A10. They were 6 and 0 coming into the Knapp Center. Pretty good non-con win.

Drake/DU
I probably have to go with UMass. Unfortunately, most of the BCS conference wins have been against pretty poor teams. Although, hopefully it will be Xavier in a couple days. :jays:

At this point I'd have to say UMass, Duquesne, and maybe Mississippi State, that one might have to pan out a bit more.
By the way, in honor of Drake's genuinely impressive win over Duquesne, I will refer to them as the Drake Bulldogs for the next week and not The Fighting Tom Davii. Congrats, Dogs.

According to coaches and media from the A-10, they were predicted for 11th.
UMass is predicted 8th, so not much better.
Not sure there is a "marquee" win yet. A lot of games that may prove to be good down the road, just too early to tell. We just don't have that pre-season hyped take-down yet.
Wins over Xavier or St Joe's (Creighton), Michigan State (Bradley), Butler (Bradley or SIU), Wright State (Bradley), VCU (Bradley), Miami (OH) (Indiana St), Arkansas (Missouri State), St. Mary's (SIU) could still be there.

Gotta go with UMASS. Duquense hasn't beaten anyone this year.

Hard to argue with that list, but it's pretty clear that the MVC has a lot of work to do.
Thanks for the sign of respect. In return, I'll refrain from using NIU. I can't promise no one else will, though :grin:

IUPUI or "Ewey Pewy" beat UMass Saturday over in their crackerbox gym in Indy.

If Duquesne is the 11th best team in the A-10, that's one helluva conference. Duquesne wasn't great, but they were a very solid team with good size, good athletes, good shooters and good depth.

I'm guessing that Duquesne would lose to DePaul and Nebraska, but I'm not claiming either of those as overly impressive OOC wins for CU. Nebraska, walloping Arizona St yesterday, could turn out to be a good win for the Jays later in the season.
If CU can beat either Xavier (somewhat unexpectedly) or beat St Joes at home this weekend, those would be quality wins. XU (predicted 1st in the A10) and SJU (3rd) certainly seem to be better than Duquesne (11th). As always, however, time will tell.

I know Iowa State isn't very good but a UNI win in their gym is still pretty good. Thus, I'll give that one the "best" moniker.
As an aside, Iowa State then beat Oregon State on the road. The Beavers aren't so hot either but road wins are priceless no matter who you are.

If that's the best the conference can say right now, then it is a guaranteed one-bid conference. I haven't seen one team in it that's remotely of at-large caliber.

SIU's dismantling of Mississippi State and Jamont Gordon was best, because it was on national TV. Unfortunately it was countered by their two noncompetitive losses on national TV. If Creighton can pull it off Wednesday against XU, that would be the biggest win to date. Drake's victory over Duquesne was impressive to knowledgable fans, if under the radar nationally. The most improved team in the MVC over the most improved team in the A-10.

I am impressed with Drake. But I am not willing to crown them the most improved team in the MVC yet.
Time will tell.

There are NO marquee wins so far this season. The best win so far is the SIU win over Miss. St on national TV. It was over a BCS team and it was on TV.
But nothing like what we had last year (wins like MSU over Wisconsion, WSU at LSU, WSU at Syracuse etc)

OOC isn't over yet. A couple of marquee wins and we're back to multiple bid status.

If not Drake, then Illinois State. But I expected more of them to begin with. Whichever team can win on the road will be the most improved.

I dont know why people use that phrase, "If the season ended today." Who cares if it ended today? The at-larges are awarded for the overall season. We will get at least 2 bids, no worries.

2 bids is not good. Unfortunately its very realistic given our lack of good wins OOC and the BCS bias.

Especially if the conference beats up on the preseason pick....which is very, very likely to happen.

I'll bet St. Mary's is depressed today given the jump into the abyss by Sucks In Unison.

An alarming lack of quality wins. Using the Sagarins as a gauge:
Best Road Wins:
MSU vs Winthrop (56)
BU vs Wright St (110)
Best Home Wins:
SIU vs St Mary’s (27)
DU vs Duquense (32)
UNI vs UMass (48)
CU vs Nebraska (59)
......And Bradley played Michigan St very tough at home….
Best Neutral Court Win:
SIU vs Miss St
