Shox building a little second line depth, keeping the lead between 10-15. Starters back in after the under 8.

Sorry that the Shockers disappointed you with a non-conference win against the #26 RPI team in the country.

You will also find it disappointing that WSU missed a whopping 6 shots in the second half.

#2 for the bad guys was probably the best shooter in a bad guy role since Ben Jacobsen, and we don't want to talk about how those games turned out. Was probably the best first half and entire half (the first) from a Shocker team in about a year (going back to Turgeon's early season last year.) They shot 70% from 3 land in the first half (ouch!) and were still down big - I can't figure it out.

Shocks really slowed things a bit at about 5-6 minute mark and they started getting back into it. Shocks held on and eventually pulled away with a minute or two to go - with - believe it or not, defense.

The first of many tough games at home for the Shocks here in December.

I now understood why UMBC was 6-1 entering tonight's game and had already compiled 4 road wins already, and why they were No.26 in the RPI (even though that's meaningless at this point).

The team was comprised of a couple 1 on 1'ers but could shoot the hell out of the ball. They really didn't have a defense. This is one of those looks-bad-on-paper-but-may-be-a-decent type of team in the long run.

Crowd was better. Play was better.

I'll be interested to see what UMBC does on the road at West Virginia and at Ohio State in future weeks.

The Shocks win their 4th straight and take on an undefeated Texas-Arlington team (7-0) at home on Friday..

I don't think very well. (WVU/Ohio St) Awfully small team.

Yeah, but seriously their starting lineup was:

6'8", 6'4", 6'3", 6'2", 5'8"

And that is who normally get the bulk of their minutes. So he's right, they are a very small team and I doubt they'll fare well against WVU or Ohio State unless they are just killing the 3's, which could happen as they do have plenty of shooters. One reason why we were getting so many offensive boards, we were actually bigger at a couple positions tonight.

However UMBC could play a bigger lineup if they wish to or needed to.

#22 (Cavell Johnson F 6-8 205) was in the game for 21 minutes.
#30 (Justin Fry F 6-9 220) was in the game for 18 minutes.
#40 (Uwem Eshietedoho F 6-8 225) was in the game for 2 minutes.
#50 (Tyler Massey C/F 6-10 240) is a walk-on junior (& honors student).
#42 (Marcos Tamares F 6-6 205) is a freshman whose bio looks pretty good.

LOL yeah but they won't. That's like saying that WSU could have played a bigger lineup when they had Paul Miller, David King & Ryan Bradley. Yeah they COULD have but they obviously didn't. The only reason Fry got that many minutes is because of foul trouble on Johnson. So really 5 of those 6 don't play a lick.

You can't justify how "big" a team is just by looking at their roster....

This was a good win for the shox. That team had some guys that could really fill it up.
