A lot of losses for teams 14-25, so Drake is looking to move up. I predict a #16 ranking for the Bulldogs.

#16 might be a bit optimistic, but they are in the top 20, no doubt.

Texas A&M lost, Villanova lost twice, Mississippi lost, Dayton lost twice, Vanderbilt lost, and Pittsburg lost, while Drake had a very nice win over Creighton. Also, Marquette and Stanford had a single nonimpressive win
each.

So, Drake could very easily jump over Marquette and Stanford, which would put DU at 20th, then jumping over losers: A&M, Villanova, Mississippi, and Dayton. This would put DU at 16th

If voters see Creighton win as big, then this all could happen, but if not, we could be as low as 18th. Either way, another great week for the Bulldogs.

Just don't get your hopes up too much. I have watched this with SIU the last few years. You look at the wins and losses and you think we should move 5-6 spots and when the polls come out we move up 2. Don't be shocked if you even see someone outside the polls come in and jump over Drake. The good thing is that MVC teams can continue to move up the polls until we get to the 10 range (other conferences can't do that). The bad news is that we still move up the polls much slower than BCS teams.

Although you make a good point, obviously Drake is starting to get more attention. Drake was ranked 14th in the Power 16.

Everyone is starting to realize that the MVC is for real (Thanks to SIU, Creighton , and Bradley in past years) and the Bulldogs's ranking will benefit from that. Drake doesn't have to prove that the MVC is a strong conference because the past performances by fellow MVC teams have already done so.

Nice exclusion of WSU on that list..

Drake will not hit No.16 this week. The win at Creighton was nice, but it's not big enough for any kind of a major leap. Unfortunately the Top 25 doesn't work as to all the losers fall below all the winners of each week. The strength of opponent, margin of defeat, and a lot of other facts determine the shift in rankings from week to week. Drake will be lucky to hit the Top 20 this week. At best No.19.. at worst No.22.

So, even though almost all of the teams from last week's 13-21 in the Top 25 lost (and some lost twice, Dayton and Villanova) you don't see Drake moving up (Drake was 22 last week)?

As far as excluding WSU, that was an oversight. WSU had a very nice run in the tourney.

He's right. Voters are going to look at Drake's results and see two close wins over unranked teams, and those teams play in the MVC so national voters will think they can't be very good. That Game Day this weekend where they ranted about how mediocre the MVC and Drake are didn't help either. A couple of bigger name teams will pass Drake in the rankings, and I don't think Drake will move up much more than a couple of spots.

WSUbballer, Drake comes in at #16 in the AP Poll. You going to man up and admit you were wrong above the above?

(aren't you the same guy that questioned how Texas could move up 7 spots in one week?)

Maybe you stop all the poll talk for a while.....it's pretty clear you don't understand the way they work. :helpsmilie:

I assumed the media/coaches were gonna have the same BCS bias as they always do when ranking the teams. Maybe, they're starting to come around. I'm glad to be wrong in this case. I love seeing the Valley gain respect.

Props to Drake.

BTW.. Standford moves up 7 spots up to #14 with a single win vs. California last week.. ???... Ok.. I'm done..

Josh Young scores 100 points. Keno Davis devises the perfect defense, and during the game finds a cure for AIDS, solves the issue of poverty, convinces the Korver family to procreate again (and shortly after conception) the kid commits to Drake. 14 other players in double figures with 10 points each, and Drake as a team is named MVC Players of the Week. Keno is awarded COY based on his results thus far....and the Big 12 boots out Kansas and awards Drake a spot as an all-sports member despite playing non-scholly football.

ESPN has decided to move their HQ's from Bristol, Conn. to Des Moines to eliminate the dreaded "East Coast Bias", and Duke agrees to play Drake in Des Moines on the road as part of a 1 for 10. First 9 games in Des Moines with Drake having a buy-out clause on the game in Durham.

Satan has floot seats at Knapp to protecting his investment in Keno, but also because he's also promised to make the DU Bulldog his next prodigy for Son of Sam II.

SIU loses Falker, Mullins and Shaw to chicken-pox. ISU loses Osiris Eldridge to a freak accident as he breaks his arm on a put back dunk attempt. Evansville just decides to go D-II on a whim. Indiana State simply refuses to play anyone West of the Mississippi. Bradley gets put on probation for something they did in the 50's (the NCAA was late in investigating it). Barry Hinson is fired and the whole MSU squad just quits in support. Wichita State follows Gregg Marshall to South Carolina and the SEC just adds another school so Marshall and WSU won't have any beef. UNI offers to merge with Drake, but is shot down because they're a public school...so they boycott any future games with Drake. Shortly after the CU game, Creighton joins PETA and changes their name to the Husker-Don'ts and boycotts Drake for their abuse of the Bulldogs as a mascot.

The Valley folds as a result and Keno is named coach at Drake, Iowa and Iowa State on his way to WORLD DOMINATION as he beats Mitt Romney and Barack Obama to become the first Independent President of the United States as a write in candidate.

Then on the 7th day....he'll rest!

Nice for Drake and good call Keita. What a credit to the Valley, though, that Drake can move up like that (sort of makes you wonder what took so long in the first place). Being up at #16, you are less likely to fall all the way out if you lose (not that you will), which is really important. As long as you can hold to the top 25, you will get a guaranteed berth and a nice seed.

Glad to see the Valley can make jumps like that now. I didn't know we could do that. I would have to say that we got the respect we were due there ... odd.

It's great to see Drake having the success that they are, but after watching the game Saturday, I just don't know how they can keep it up. Live by the 3 die by the 3, I guess.

Korver was amazing on Saturday, saving his best for last with a fadeaway 25' 3 ball over the outstretched hand of 7' 1" Jordan Egleseder. I could only shake my head and admit that it was Drake's night to shine.

While you are usually right, Drake does depend on the three quite heavily. Drake also has found a way to win when they haven't had good shooting nights, through Adam and Leonard driving to the basket and dumping it off to Bucky, Brent, or Klayton.

As good as Drake is at shooting and with everyone healthy now, I don't see too many more games (maybe two) that Drake has a rough shooting night. There will always be one or two guys that will be hot and you can always count on Josh and Klayton for a couple of threes down the stretch. Additionally, Drake plays such hard-nosed pressure defense that they create turnovers and easy baskets off of them, so Drake can get by with mediocre shooting nights if we have 14 points off of turnovers.
