Someone reported he got hurt late in the game against the bears. Any update?

He practiced yesterday and is planning on playing tonight. Sprained ankle.

I know tanking a game is not very sportingly, and I doubt this idea is anywhere close to Marty or Shy's mind, but with two pretty winnable home games coming up in the next week or so, would it be smart to limit Ely minutes considerably to ensure he is 100% for the next couple of games.
Not saying this game isn't winnable. If the Aces play the way they played this weekend, anything can happen. Plus, I don't see SIU shooting quite as well to open up as they did at Evansville.
Believe me, there is nothing more I'd rather see than UE going into SIU and killing the "dogs", but I'd also love to see a 100% Ely against Bradley and WSU. What do you think the plan on Shy's minutes will be tonight?

Good points..I don't think the staff would intentionally hold him back, but I am sure they understand the importance of Ely being totally healthy and the challenges of winning in Carbondale. Even with SIU being down, it is still a tall order considering they have had one loss at home in the last several years. Of course, who thought it would be Indiana State so anything is possible.
I imagine if the game is close, Ely will be in there. If it starts to get out of hand, I am sure Simmons will be quick with the hook.

Regardless of what happened in Peoria, BU isn't going to be as 'easy' as you think. We're healthy now and playing a lot better. I'll be surprised if the Braves lose tomorrow, Saturday, or next Wednesday.

Easy? Where in my post did the word easy appear? You quoted it. It said the games were pretty winnable. Big difference. Trying reading chief.

one win and here come the delusions of grandeur! :no:Seriously though, BU does always struggle to win at Evansville and we have no answer for Ely, hence my question for this post. At full strength, however, BU's guards are too good and too quick for the slow-footed aces and I would suspect we'll use this to our advantage Saturday. BU has the best 1-2 combo of guards in conference, and it's about to start paying some dividends. we must get to 7-5 before the return to ISU red.

I realize this is a thread on Shy, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed that Jon VanHoose was not present on the bench vs. MSU. Any word?

Just pointing out that Evansville isn't going to be as "Easy" as BradlyBrave thinks.. Aces fans don't suffer from delusions of grandeur. We know that we are not "great" but don't come in here and think that we are just going to roll over and give the game to you.

He hurt his shoulder I think. That plus recovering from a knee injury = redshirt season.

As winnable as the rest of the league games you've played this year? Wow. Win one game and all of the sudden it's 'winnable'. I guess in theory every game is 'winnable'.

Someone must have a chip on their shoulder. In none of my post did I say anything to disrespect BU. Take a breath. Calm down. Life goes on.

Every game IS winnable. That's why they play them.

GoPurpleAces....I was wondering about Vanhoose as well. He had been injured (shoulder) for several weeks and was still attending all of the home games in street clothes.
Then comes a new semester, a new year, and then he is nowhere to be found. I am hoping he was just excused from 1 game and that nothing else is going on.
Anyone at the SIU game see Vanhoose in street clothes on UE's bench??
