Anyone catch the last part of this game?

Officiating was curious at times.......the trio let 'em play a little, then tightened up a little...........then let 'em play some more.

And then an aTm player flies out of bounds in front of the Baylor bench, resulting in a T called on a Baylor player.

Baylor fans let it get to 'em a little bit, and tossed crap out on the floor....crowd never got T'd up, but things were getting a little chippy....

Unbecoming behavior for a BXII crowd. But not surprising that the officiating trio was a familiar one to Valley fans:

Rick Hartzell, John Higgins, Steve Olsen

Can't say that I caught the game.

As for the officials, haven't had a problem with Higgins this year, has generally let the teams play, but has been consistent on both ends in letting them play. Olsen has not stood out in particular, haven't had a chance to see the other guy call a game, maybe he'll call one of UNI's games in St. Louis.:innocent:

Now if Sanzere shows up, we're all screwed.

I caught about the last minute of that game. aTm was up about 10, and I saw a few obvious fouls not called. It looked like the refs were trying to get the game over and everyone out of there ASAP. At the end, aTm had a 3-0 fastbreak, Baylor didn't even try to defend and just wanted the clock to run out, and the aTm guy did a bounce the ball off the backboard and catch it in midair dunk. Then the crowd started throwing tons of trash. High class all around.

That game was a disaster.

First, there was the double technical after one of the nastiest picks I've ever seen set. And you can blame that on the Baylor players for lingering around. Someone said something at somebody's mama and there they went. And then, despite it being at Baylor, apparently it was a A&M fan that threw something onto the court at that time. So it was an A&M fan trying to give Baylor fans a bad rep.

A A&M player completely flopped on that flagrant foul, and actually blame the officials for whistling that play dead waaay too late. When you're fouling, trying to give a foul, and they aren't whistling, what are you supposed to do?

And then the dunk with 2 seconds remaining by A&M was the most classless thing I've ever seen. And then the Baylor fans, probably jealous that the A&M fans were the jerks earlier, start throwing crap all over the court.

That was awful. The real sign of jerks are when multiple things happen in a game. You can always have an isolated indicent from time to time. However, to have that many bad things happen in so short a time, so many bad UNRELATED things, that's just terrible. The Big 12 are a bunch of thugs.

Saw the whole game. Even the announcers were in on the fix. "The players love to play this type of game". I felt the whole game was set-up to get A&M into the dance.

I agree with what Bulldogfanny posted except that it wasn't a fix but rather a specially chosen crew that would call hand checks on the perimeter and let them bang in the paint. Baylor is mostly perimeter driven. One decent PF who plays face to the basket. So they picked the crew to benefit A&M's roster and style of play. A&M now is 8-8 with Kansas in town this week-end. The Big 12 is trying to get six teams in the dance.

I thought that the officiating was pretty consistent the whole game. They called ticky tacky fouls on the perimeter and ignored fouls inside. Turgeon had his team adjust to it at half-time. I would do the same as a coach.

I am a Baylor grad and thought that the pick was legit. Reminded me of the one that MSU's Maclin set on SIU's Korn a few years back. There was a BU player at the substitution table 15 feet away who watched quietly. Not even the defender of the post who set the pick called it out. Blind but within the rules. Jones, the Aggy post, then went over towards the bench and said, "Stay down m...f...r" That is what caused the near fight.

The mini bball thrown onto the court was thrown by a Baylor fan then the BU fans who saw the Aggy fan's arm forward incorrectly accuse him of the throw. The Aggy was ejected.

The dunk was with 1.8 seconds when most of the classless BU fans littered the court. They didn't T them up so they could get the game over. If you don't want a break-away dunk then guard someone. Baylor stole the ball with 5 seconds left against Mizzou last Saturday and passing to a breaking guard for an uncontested lay-up to go up 10 and break the 100 mark. What goes around comes around.

Football games between the two teams were halted for a few years in the 1920s after a huge fight during a game. Aggies perceived a slight and jumped on a truck carrying homecoming candidates knocking girls off the truck. During the brawl an Aggy military cadet was beaten to death by a broken piece of picket fence. In the late sixties, a Baylor bball guard leaped out of bounds to save a ball under the basket at a game in College Station. The Aggy football team sat there in the stands. They held him down, kicked him, and beat him with a metal belt-buckle. The band played the national anthem to prevent a brawl. It is a long and sometimes violent rivalry.

Gotta love it when A&M is the team that makes their FTs and the Baptist school is the one littering the floor with debris. Screwy.
