Drake's Keno Davis got all but two first pace votes to win the Coach of the Year award for the MVC. Who were the two idiot reporters who voted for Jankovich instead of Davis on their ballot? They should not be allowed to vote in the future. Illinois State was supposed to finish in 5th place..Drake 9th. This should have been a no-brainer for Davis and while he did win, it should have been unanimous.

Is it possible that reporters cannot vote for personnel from the team they cover? Or is that only for pre-season awards?

I think you are correct on that. The two Drake reporters/voters must have voted for Jank, otherwise it doesn't really make sense. This should be a no-brainer for the league.

Personnel from the school can't vote for their own. So, that means Keno and the SID have to vote for someone else. An antiquated rule that should be done away with.

It's a great rule! It keeps bias from deciding awards in years in which there is a close call.

Exactly right. Is anyone going to remember or even care in 1 month (much less one year) that Keno wasn't on 100% of the ballots? I think not.
It's a great rule and should never be done away with.

Um while I concur Davis should have won it, let's not forget Jank who is in his first year with new players who had to adapt to his system. Keno took over program he was already familiar with, clockwork. Again, no disrespect, but let's not knock Jank either (plus he kept O from leaving the program)
