Your "favorite" MVC ref, Gerry Pollard, apparently won an award back in September 2007 for being a great referee. After all the bad calls by him over the past few years, I'm not sure what the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) was smoking. Maybe that's why the Valley kept him this year... :banghead: What's even scarier is that there even people interested in attending his officiating camp (http://forum.officiating.com/showthread.php?t=41092)! :ranting:

Randy Smithson made a great point on the radio this morning. Next week when they do the Big East games, will this crew eject Jim Boeheim or Jim Calhoun for saying "Foul" and for being a little demonstrative?

Another item: At the pre-season MVC coaches meetings, it is made abundantly clear that coaches are expected to pay their dues in the league, especially with the refs. So the conference office has created an environment among officials that they can (and should) treat coaches differently?

One last shot: Terrell Benton texted Randy from STL to say that it was Jim Bain that Marshall lit up in the tunnel. Randy's response - "Good. Bain is such a KU homer that's all he knows." While coaching in the Tournament, Randy mentioned in a press conference (after a win) that the league was being reffed like a "baby league" compared to his playing days. He knew he should have never said that - things just weren't the same after that.

I wouldn't want to "terminate" ol' Gerry, just tie him up and put him in an unused locker room while we're playing the game.

Fans can throw debris during a Big XII regular season rival game and get away with it. TWICE.

But if a Valley coach in a TOURNAMENT game displays a little abnormal energy on the sidelines, he gets called out.....TWICE.

Mystifying.

Why can't there be an independent oversight committee to evaluate refs?

Why are the refs governing themselves?

Isn't that like letting Microsoft write the rules of engagement for commerce in the software industry?

Can we also let the oil companies govern themselves and disband the EPA?

No comment other than excellent choice of words!:lol::clap:
