I think it's safe to say both ISU and Drake are in the tourney at this point regardless of the outcome today. So, now my concern shifts to seeding. I have to believe that the 'Birds are an approximate 10 seed pre-game. I do not want the dreaded 8-9 seed, which is what I'm thinking ISU will be if they beat Drake today?

Thoughts??

Just be happy that you're in.....don't worry about a number set next to your school's name.

WSU and Bradley did well with double-digit seeds in '05-'06. There's no reason why ILSU or anyone else from this league can't also succeed.

Games with 8-9 seeds can go either way. So I don't know what you're worried about.

To dancers: Just spend the time between now and then and work on weaknesses.....then go out there and play your game to the best of your abilities.

And a little bit of good luck always helps.

:bulldogs::redbirds: and maybe :jays: if they somehow sneak in.

Had ISU lost in first round (as Missouri State did in 2006 with a 21 RPI) then I would have been nervous. But ISU at 32 RPI this morning is in the finals against a top 25 RPI team in Drake. ISU wins they're a 10 seed. ISU loses then an 11 or most likely 12 seed. Drake wins they might sneak a 5 seed if others lose, otherwise you're looking at a solid 6 seed regardless:redbirds:

Wasn't WSU a 7 seed, though?

My bad, didn't give the Shocks enough credit (imagine what it might've been if they had actually won the Valley tourney.....:noexpression:)

Nevertheless, ignore the numbers, ignore the name on the front of your opponents' uniform, ignore the crowd (easier said than done sometimes), scout your opponents, and play your best game.

How can you say just be happy you're in? Of course I'm happy, but I'm not going to be happy in the 8-9 game and then drawing a #1 in the next game (like we did when we beat Tennessee and then got creamed by AZ).
Not sure you understand this logic, but going to the Sweet 16 is much harder having to go through a #1 seed.

In other words, I'd be much happier with a 10 or 11 than I would be with an 8 or 9.

Of course a 7 would be even better, I just want to avoid the 8 or 9.

I also have to believe that if we beat Drake, we're looking at a 9 seed.

Well.........after today's performance, I will reiterate my statement......

Just be happy that you're in.

And now you don't have to worry about 8's and 9's and 1's....do you?

Drake is looking at a 5 or a 6; they have a better profile than SIU 05 and Wichita State 06, both of which had a 7, and a worse profile than SIU 07, which had a 4.

Northern Iowa was an 11 in 2005 with a profile similar to Illinois State.

After today's performance on National TV, I say a 5 seed.
