Here is the news so far:http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/16579201.html

All students (including myself) and parents have received calls alerting us to stay away from the Towers (Bender and Dancer Halls).

Stay safe. Hopefully this is just a false alarm.

Well, apparently this is the shortest lockdown ever.

According to the news, they found the suspect. He made it to Cedar Falls and was on campus somewhere, but they haven't said if he had a weapon or not.

Now that I know everyone is safe, I am hoping class is canceled. Hey, something good can come of this, right?

I hope everyone is safe.

I just turned on CNN to hear the story, but they are busy breaking down the Dem primary in Mississippi (a state they will never vote democratic in the general election anyway)...

That's better than the alternative.:fear:

Actually KCRG TV9 gave some false information. The source where they got the info must be a bad source and they even said on the news that they must have gotten some bad info. The lock down is still going on.

I hope this ends it. Be careful out there. This world is getting more and more unpredictable all the time.

I think UNI officials did a great job of getting information out to the students and the community. The Cedar Falls police and the Iowa State Patrol responded quickly as well and had the campus canvased within minutes of the initial threat.

What can't be ignored here is that the person who received the threat: 1. Took it seriously 2. Took it to her RA 3. The RA took it to campus security an finally 4. They took precautionary steps to ensure that no one was a threat on campus.

I'm happy they did what they did and kept UNI students safe.

Good job keeping everybody safe, UNI.

Yes, terrific job by all police and security involved, as well as the student receiving the threats and the RA.

Despite this particular emergency plan and alert system being implemented less than a month ago, everything went smoothly and and well as anybody could have hoped for. Good job all around.

except for KCRG of course. Shotty reporting in a potentially dangerous situation.

The initial reports I saw on KWWL had Ron Steele live outside the towers saying there had been a skirmish on the 11th floor and somebody used the words,"I'm gonna shoot you up!!"
Glad that it ended well, but it was hilarious to hear him say that over & over as seriously as possible.:helpsmilie:
