Didnt want to create an entire new thread but didnt want this to get stuck in the middle of the Bracketology one either.

Mods, Sitcky??

You can vote now or wait until the conference tournaments finish out. Each poll is it own website so you will have to visit each one to vote. Vote away and we will see how smart ValleyTalk can be:grin:

I think, before anyone votes, it's a good idea to determine how many spots for these teams there are.

You can vote in or out, but it's much more accurate if you set a limit on how many you can vote yes or no for - after all, there is a cutline.

I'll calculate the cutline, gimme a minute.

p.s. It's just me, but I'd add UNLV to the non-lock list.

I was thinking about the cutline as well but I dont have the brainpower to figure that out:lol:

Just missed out on adding UNLV. I think they are ok. They are in the exact same position MSU was in 2006; High RPI, no big OOC wins, good conference record(expect they won a few games against the other top teams in the MWC)

My quick count: 17 spots available.

Vote 17 yes's and 12 no's. 13 no's if UNLV is added to the board.

Just remember, those numbers can and will change before its all said on done.

It might. Actually, most of the bidstealer conferences (Sun Belt - USA, MVC - Drake, Horizon-Butler, Southern-Davidson, a couple others I'm forgetting) are in the clubhouse already. The MAC and Kent St is the one variable left, it seems.

Yeah, I guess so. I was going to say the bigger conferences but I guess that counts as playing your way back in. Unless LSU or Cal some how steal

Nice work fellas, I think I will wait to vote to see how the conference tournaments play out. That way we should have a better read on the bubble teams and the yes/no cut score. Posters that complete the survey could/should also post their selections to see who was the most accurate. The winner should get a VT coffee mug or something (do we have coffee mugs)? Should we set a deadline for voting? SMSANDMSUSON, do your polls close at a certain time? If not, maybe you can edit your post right before 6 pm on selection Sunday to delete the links?

Of course, remember, this only measures our ability to match the selection committee, whether or not we are smart is not capable of being determined, statistically that is, unless you make the determination that the selection committee is smart ... which I think is a stretch. Anyway, we can see where VT and the committee disagrees and see how closely our disagreements match the disagreements of the national media and on what criteria we placed more or less value than the committee. For instance, we should be able to make the determination of whether being in a mid-major conference leads VT posters to more highly value mid-major schools on the bubble. My hypothesis is that it does. Anyway, should be fun to see how this plays out.

If by some chance, we were to accurately predict the selections of the selection committee, then we can just write to the NCAA's and tell them it is not necessary to pay all that money to lock up the committee in a secluded location to determine the field next year. We can just do it for them here on VT for free. If we do this every year and we become more accurate than Lunardi and the bunch, all the newspapers will be checking VT for their results.

I dont think so. They keep a running tab of how many polls have been created so I bet they dont.

No, it doesnt let me edit after 15 minutes. Maybe I can contact a Mod and see if they will let me.

Good thinking

I should have waited to create this. I guess I just wanted everyone to have a chance and not everyone checks it everyday so putting it up Saturday night I thought we would get like 5 people to vote.

Not to redo to work that you did to create all the snap surveys, but what about this format instead?

<a href="http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=q5lUvv0RdsjMuIYYzENaPQ_3d_3d">Click Here to take SAMPLE survey</a>

We can open the survey as soon as it becomes clear what the cut number is (if the MAC is the only bubble buster conference left, as soon as Kent State loses, we can put it up, or if it goes long and Kent is still in, we can just assume they will win - not the best, but it's what we got to work with).

With this link, we can open the question when we want (the one above is just a sample, I will clear all responses and make final corrections before when we go live).

You jerk!

Yeah, I didnt try messing with that one until I created the ones that I did. I think this one will be better since they are all together. You didnt add UNLV:lol:

How do we want to do this? Wait until the MAC tourney is done or until Kent State loses? Or put it up now?

BTW-How did you come up with 17? If I did it right, I came up with 18 locks which would leave open 16 spots.

I just went off the work you 2 did on the numbers - we can add UNLV and go to 18 - it is no problem - the survey above is just a sample. I don't have to be the one that does it, either, you can do it if you want, you have sort of been or bracket guru all season (just surveymoney.com; (question format) "matrix of choices, one answer per row"; question text; row choices are bubble teams, column choices are yes and no; save; publish). It takes 5-10 min. I am perfectly fine with you doing it (in fact, I would sort of prefer it - this is a busy week for me).

As to opening it, the MAC tourney ends Saturday, so that might be too late. I think it can be opened now, anyway. I mean we can just say that the teams with the highest percentages (whether it is 17 or 18 or 19 or whatever) are the teams that VT members chose to include. We can say in the question to "select 17 teams if you feel Kent State will not win the MAC tourney or 18 teams if you think they will" - kind of thing.

I dunno. I went off my list, so I have no idea how to check against yours.

Baylor just lost to Colorado - the first Big XII #12 seed to ever win a tournament game. Baylor stunk it up at the end of the year; might have helped Illinois State a bit today. Arizona State and UAB lost also, which can't hurt either.

The redbirds definitely have a good chance to dance, they likely are in the last 4 in category. No more upsets!
