Wichita State comes in at #134. I have to admit I am surprised we are even ranked in this team. If we are in it, then there are a definately a lot more valley teams to be named later.

Just a guess, SIU comes in at 72 and Creighton is the highest in the Valley at 39.

If, by their standards, you are 7th in the Valley, its going to be interesting to see who they consider 8 and 9 in the Valley. UNI? ISU(blue)? MSU?

Here is one guess. I think they should have ranked all ten MVC teams in the top 144.
10. UE
9. ISU (blue)
8. MSU or UNI
Some of you will say the collegehoopsnet.com rankings are gross. http://www.stupidquestionsanswered.com/answered/gross.htm

Lots of "DNP last season" in that projected line-up. Do y'all think they step up enough to make some noise in the Valley this year? Seriously, would like to know.
Surely, Clemente can play. Anybody else? Is there any chance at the magical intangible happening with Wichita?
(Obviously a reference to Drake last year. :) )
Who thinks they got it this year?

I think it's safe to assume it involves the trio of Missouri State, Northern Iowa, and Evansville, not necessarily in that order.

Probably so...Bradley and UNI tied last year at 9-9 and I am not sure who lost more. We were 8-10 but I am sure most look at losing Deven and Dale as being pretty big...which they should. We still return our entire back court and 4 of our top 6 scorers from last year though.

It's pretty understandable why any casual observer would conclude this looks like a rebuilding year for the Bears. New coach and system, top two players graduated, team was 7th place last year; all would seem to add up to a lower level finish, and maybe it will.
Not much to base an argument against it on except; Bears have only finished out of the top division 2 years in a row on one previous occasion [Bernsen's last 2 years], they return 4 of top 6 scorers, have an experienced backcourt [ but who will have to share time with talented frosh], have better size and athleticism than they've had in a while, and have 2 top 40 juco players from last year, both of whose skills were largely wasted and misused last year.
The schedule is tough early, and a young squad will probably take some lumps, but then it sets up almost ideally [ at the same time 6'9 soph transfer Will Creekmore becomes elgible] to gain confidence and momentum heading into conference play, and the early conference schedule is also favorable.
It's all good no matter what, as anywhere from 4-6 frosh and a rs sophmore will all be getting their feet wet this year, to then combine with a pair of D-1 transfers and what promises to be a very good incoming class in 09 to form the nucleus of the future of Bear's basketball.
How quickly the program will gell under ZO is the question, but I think people may be underestimating our overall talent.

Realize that this CHN "countdown" is pretty much for entertainment purposes which creates interest in college b-ball, and that they are throwing darts at the board, but think they've definitely missed the mark picking the Illinois State Redbirds for 5th in this season's Valley.
At year's end, it's always funny to look back at these guestimates and see how far off they are. Give CHN credit for doing a top 144, but it just leaves alot more room for error.
GO VALLEY!!

Just curious... when you say you think they missed the mark... do you put them higher or lower?

that's about where I expected Bradley to fall. I wouldn't think most Brave's fans would be too upset with that.

My God I'm glad to see the Braves finally listed. The Bradley board is great for information & I stop by there every day, but the Brave fans have been going nuts over the wait for their ranking. Some thought they might not even get ranked so hopefully nobody jumped off the bridge yet.............but another week & they might have? Now, what is this ranking worth? I still say that in comparison to last season, BU fans will be disappointed by the time this season is done as they are over-ranked going in.

Another week and they might have? Might have what? Not been ranked? It wasnt a question of if but where. With WSU coming in at #134 and 7th from the Valley, Bradley was going to be ranked
It seems like a fair assessment of the Braves. If a couple guys emerge along the frontcourt, it becomes a very good team. If not, they play in the 4/5 game again.
