Where did you hear this? Van Deest is from Bettendorf, one of the Iowa/Illinois Quad Cities.

Van Deest is a kid who didn't even start for his high school team until mid-way through his junior season, and was only 2nd team all-conference. But, he apparently blew up over the summer and impressed a lot of people.

Evaluation

May, 2008: A smart mobile big that can play inside with his back to the basket or step out on the floor and be very comfortable facing up to the basket. Seth can score with good post moves and has a very solid 3-point shot. He is a good passer and decision maker and has a total team game attitude. Lack of strength is his weakness and he is not explosive. Good basketball IQ and playing hard will make up for his lack of physical athleticism. Potential to be a very good college player.
