The last spot on the schedule has been filled with a home-and-home against TCU starting in Ft. Worth this year. WSU has been looking for a game in Texas a long time because of all the Texas recruits. Now we have home and homes with both Texas Tech and TCU.

Linky thing to WSU's schedule:

The Valley schedule still has some holdups as referenced in the article. Here's what's known about Valley scheduling in case you don't want to read all the way through the article

As soon as Creighton, Evansville and Bradley get their concerts, tractor pulls and swap meets arranged at their rental locations, it’s go time.

A) Texas Tech and TCU...very nice to have home and homes with them.
B) Tractor Pulls? I heard how expensive it is to own one of those tractor for a pull...how do they make any money off of that?

Tractor pulls, maybe at the arena in Council Bluffs. Probably not, I think that's a county fair thing. Swap meets, no. In Omaha, they are refered to as flea markets, not swap meets and they aren't at the Qwest Center. They aren't even held at the Civic.

Concerts, yes. But it is a bit curious that Paul Sullentrop or however the hell you spell his name, would mention concerts when concerts don't even frequent the Wichita area. How does he even know what a concert is? The last concert I even heard of in Wichita was the Rolling Stones at Cessna Stadium and it was widely reported in the Eagle that they ended up giving away a bunch of tickets. They sold 15,000 and gave the rest away. It was a bigger Joan of Arc night than Creighton ever had!!! Since then, no big act has even dared to try. Oh well, when your undersized arena without any parking finally opens, maybe you will get .38 Special.

I'm really not knocking Wichita, it's just that this post should draw Cold out of hibernation.:lol::lol:

Are you serious? Wichita can draw huge names. Styx is having a VIP cocktail AND a concert. You can't overlook Pretty Ricky's Back to School Bash. Plus, the grand-daddy of them all, Gay Up Stand Up. "GAY UP STAND UP is a comedy tour geared to bring Gay and Gay friendly stand up right to the heart of the Gay Community." Wichita is in the heart of the Gay Community? Hmm, now that explains a lot.

There is this awesome swap meet held outside of the San Diego Sports Arena. I think it's now called the Cox Arena. Anyway, back in the early 80's, when I was in the Navy, you could get everything from a top of the line Walkman, to knockoff sunglasses to parachute pants!!! There were booths where people sold exotic animals, baseball cards and even "herbs."

If you are looking for a top of the line swap meet, I would highly recommend it.

I just checked, it's still there!!! http://www.kobeyswap.com/

The GAY UP STAND UP Tour is heading to Wichita. This particular tour features Jason Dudey, Erin Foley, Paul J. Williams & Shawn Pelofsky.

GAY UP STAND UP is a comedy tour geared to bring Gay and Gay friendly stand up right to the heart of the Gay Community. Each month the tour is in a new set of cities booking the most hilarious comics on the gay circuit. Although it’s billed as a “Gay Show”, don’t let that fool you. All are welcome and all will leave having had a Gay Ole’ Time.

Jason Dudey – Born in Wichita, KS, raised in Baltimore, MD, a New York City runaway now residing in Los Angeles, Jason Dudey is a combo of Midwest values, East Coast attitude and West Coast mentality. Dudey, as he is affectionately called, is the guy next door that just happens to be gay. Who knew? Jason has been seen on LOGO’S Wisecracks – OutLaugh Comedy Festival and this year’s Last Comic Standing on NBC. Dudey will be shooting his own stand up comedy DVD in August in Los Angeles. Finally, look for his half hour special “One Night Stand Up” on LOGO coming this winter.

Erin Foley – Erin can currently be seen on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Erin Foley has the grace and style of a seasoned actress with the wit and comedic timing that leave audiences laughing uncontrollably for more. Foley is a recent transplant to Los Angeles, having spent many long hours in New York City’s comedy clubs for the last nine years. Erin can be seen at the Hollywood Improv, Caroline’s on Broadway, Stand Up New York and Gotham Comedy Club. Not only has Erin had a successful career in comedy, but she also succeeds on the small screen with several national television commercial campaigns. At the present time, Erin is filming a comedy pilot “Comedy Coliseum” for NBC. Her favorite role to date was in Cameron Crowe’s film “Almost Famous”. Erin played the role of Allison, the fact checker. Erin will also be filming her own stand up DVD on August 14th in Los Angeles. Even more exciting, Erin’s half hour Comedy Central Special will be filmed on August 24th in New York City.

Paul J. Williams – This Dallas based funny man has been performing stand up for over a decade. He has also been seen in New York in 1997 when he performed his one-man show, LEFT, OUT, … AND NOT RIGHT! On three separate occasions, and was nominated for a Manhattan Association of Cabaret (MAC) Award as Outstanding Male Comic, in 2000, 2001 and 2002. In 2002, Paul premiered a new show DISHING IT OUT, which is a one- man tour de force in which he portrays six different characters all interacting in one afternoon in a Southern cafeteria. Paul’s humor draws on his family, his church background, his experiences as a single male, and his political and social observations of the world around him. In keeping with his wide appeal, Paul’s humor is funny without being crass, and his act often includes one of his original characters from DISHING IT OUT.

Shawn Pelofsky – This hysterical girl was born one out of ten Jews in Oklahoma … and that’s not funny at all! Performing since the age of eight, Shawn decided to pursue a career in comedy. Since then she has traveled all over the world performing her stand up and hosting events such as the “2006 WEHO Awards”, “The Nikky Awards”, Human Rights Campaign Comedy Benefit” and was live from the streets of LA’s 2007 Gay Pride Parade. Shawn has performed alongside veterans such as Margaret Cho on her “Sensuous Woman” tour and has also been featured countless times on TV shows such as “Chelsee Lately”, “Minding the Store” and “Comics Unleashed”. Watch this Queen of Queen’s as she takes over the world of comedy!

Yeah, this is like banter from two plus years ago. It's old and unoriginal. And sure, the rented vs. owned thing is dated, a few people on Shockernet got a little bit of a kick out of it, a few, but not many. It even took several prompts on Shockernet before Aargh ran over and posted it here.

But then again.....

In all seriousness, these idiots were protesting at our church in Omaha last weekend (1 of 3 in Omaha apparently). It was so sad to see a family of 6 people - parents are four kids (including children under the age of 5 or so) holding signs vith such vitriol. My 6 year old commented, "Those signs have some rude words on them."

I felt sorry for them. ..the kids that is. The parents will rot in hell.

I was simply trying to balance out the gay comments. I don't pull for Creighton or Wichita State, so I threw a little gay Omaha crap out there. That said, seeing Creighton is a private, religious university, they don't have the exact same student body demographics as Wichita State. Therefore, nothing in Omaha or Creighton out gays this Wichita State club: http://webs.wichita.edu/?u=tgg

My money says some clubmembers are also members of Shockernet.

It wasn't an oxymoron. Kids typically use old stuff. Over and over and over again. And when you think they are done, they do it over and and over and over some more. Afterall, it isn't "old stuff" to kids. But it teaches parents patience. Either that, or how to be a functional drunk. Without booze or patience, how many times can you hear the banana joke without wanting to inject your brain with a little hot lead.

So, how many times has your kid done the old banana knock knock joke? Old, old stuff, but to the kid, BRILLIANT!!!

Knock knock

Banana who?

Nothing in Omaha 'out' gays Wichita State?

http://www.outinomaha.com/

These are all tit for tat. Well, speaking of homos, maybe tit for tat is a bad expression. That said, you can find the same gay bars, gay nightlife, gay rodeo, gay this, gay that in any city. You can probably even find it in the more redneck cities in the south. But unlike Wichita State, you will not find a gay club at Creighton. At least not an officially sanctioned, out of the closet club, using university resources (your tax dollars and donation money) to power their webpage. That pretty much outgays Creighton. Not that there's anything wrong with it. So giddyup!!!

For the record, I'm just trying to bring a little life back into this dead website. If it doesn't improve, I just might have to go to mvctalk.com and re-read the three posts on that site.

Good luck. I come here now and again, but the banter is so stupid and vapid that its not even fun to read. You guys have outdone yourselves.

I have hardly posted in the basketball forum in a month or more. I did engage in some friendly banter off topic, but other than that, not much posting in basketball at all. And excluding myself, until this thread, Baller has been nonexistent and as of late, you would never know that Dawgie is even a member. You never see Jerrybear or any of the other "instigators." So, in fact, there is little or no stupid talk.

For the most part, this summer, the board, when not down, has been on topic. In fact, if you look at page one of the basketball forum, all but two threads are "On Topic" are basketball related and are devoid of much trash talk. Even so, the board is dead. It's summer, some of the drop in traffic is to be expected. But it's not because of the stupid banter, it hasn't been happening, so blame something else. Looking at the menu of topics on the basketball board, the lack of "stupid" threads combined with the lack of activity makes you wonder if the stupid banter is what really makes this board great.

I guess if you find Valley Talk vapid, the boredom must come from the fact that Valley Talk is now too "on topic."

So come up with something else. Facts are facts. And for the most part, the board is on topic.

It's the summertime.....college basketball boards are always pretty slow in the summertime*....there's not that much to talk about, and most people just aren't that interested in college b-ball right before the football season.

Read a book....view some on-line porn.....do something to keep yourself entertained.

*with the exception of Bradleyfans.com, which is busier than all the other boards put together. :innocent:

For the most part, this summer, the board, when not down, has been on topic.

I guess that's why this thread has been discussing the relative gayness of Valley schools.

For those of us looking for information about other Valley teams, this place has become a cesspool of vapid comments and personal attacks on other posters.

If I were to choose to enter a forum where trash-talk and personal attacks were the focus, I would choose a forum where the trash-talkers at least had some wit and the attacks were based on some attempt to use the English language in imaginative ways.

Out here it's the number of posts and a "look at me - look at me - I can keep posting more" attitude that pretty much destroys both intelligent observation and trash-talking.

I guess the fact that since you, showing all the creativity of a fourth grader, stole the idea to post this thread from posters on Shockernet, but when nobody bit, then this place is suddenly vapid. We can all look at the thread and see the Shockernetters who had the idea to post it here, none of them were you. You stole an idea and ran with it. Nice originality!

But nobody bit on the thread bucause the rented arena topic is actually what is vapid. It's old and tired and doesn't work anymore. When the rented thing first became a topic, it was funny. Then it became fodder for smack talk, it was great! Now it's just weak. And in many ways, it looks like a desperate fan base reaching for anything, anything possible, even if they are swinging for nothing but air.

I suppose after all the years of being the weak, red headed stepchild to Kansas and Kansas State, you look for any angle, anything at all to prop yourself up. So you own your arena, whoopee! When your neigbor shows up with his new BMW and you look at your rusted Escort sitting in the driveway, you can pride yourself in knowing that your Escort burns a little oil, isn't as fancy, but it's yours! Your neighbor simply has a 60 month lease! Whoopee!!!!

So here is what has happened, You posted a vapid thread on Valley Talk. The vapidity is yours!

Yep, the thread didn't go the way you intended. You thought it would be great, but it wasn't. In fact, without the midgets, this thread would have been one of the biggest bombs ever. So what do you do, once again, lacking any originality, you steal Dawgs' word "vapid" and post it here. That is two unoriginal thoughts you have posted on one thread. Nice work, Aargh!

All I can say is

Boring!!!

How was that for a little smack talk!

For the record, I have nothing against Wichita State and sympathize with not just Wichita State, but every Valley school in what is seemingly, a futile quest to garner any respect from the big state schools.

Sorry MoValley John, I think I speak for most when I say: your act has officially gotten old. :wheelchair:

MVJ, your stuff is weak. I don't mean to get into a battle of wits with an unarmed person, but there are a few problems with your post.

1) You have no comprehension of the concept of saying something without actually putting it into the post. This thread wasn't about another rent vs. owned VT smackfest. It was about the fact that the rent vs. owned argument has hit mainstream media, and it is interfering with the Valley's ability to produce schedules for league play.

2) I stole the idea to post this here from posters on ShockerNet? I understand how you could make that assumption. People with low IQs assume that everyone else thinks the same way they do. I waited to see if any of the WSU trash-talkers would post it. When they didn't, I did.

3) The rent vs. owned topic might be old to you, but it does interfere with the Valley's ability to set schedules and it makes every Valley team's scheduling more difficult. That's a topic that isn't going to go away just because you are tired of discussing it.

4) I don't tend to read most of the threads after they devolve from the topic into the gutter. Maybe that's why I'm blissfully unaware that another poster here uses "vapid". I didn't borrow the term from another poster. It was simply my observation of what I see out here from some posters.

5) Generally, when posters resort to 4-th grade references, it's because they don't have anything better.

6) We're only a couple of months away from serious discussion, like comparing Stinnett and Eldridge for POY in the conference. We need to get the sewer garbage out of the way now so those of us who enjoy factual, objective discussion can find that here.

The local writer assigned to follow and report on ANY particular team in ANY particular conference is not really mainstream. Well, they are mainstream in the fact that they are attached to a mainstream rag, but they are far from objective. They are more like cheerleaders. I have to muddle through reading our local hacks that are assigned to the Huskers, Jays, Cyclones etc. They all report, but they all slant and they all fill their stories with the same stuff you brought here. The comment by Sullenthrop, or however you spell his name, was nothing more than a predictable barb thrown by a local team beat writer. He was endearing himself to the fanbase for which he writes. Moreover, the placement of the barb at the end of his article was a classic hook, and like bluegills, many Shocker fans bit. And like bluegills, you are all waiting, with baited breath, for more. If it was important, or had any meaning, he would have led with it or included it as a main point of his story. It wasn't. Your assertion that what Sullentrop, or however the hell you spell his name, is mainstream, would mean that than Shatel or Pospisil at the OWH or even Matt Perrault is on the radio is also mainstream and their homer interjections should also be viewed as unbiased, mainstream media, factual reporting. Nope, not really. They cheerlead. All those guys do report facts, as does Sullenthorpe, or however the hell you spell his name, but all three coat their stories with the same crap. Most people can read through it, however, and understand when crap is injected to attach said journalist to the readers of that respective fanbase.

Not wanting to read the countless pages of nothing related to the topic, TCU does have a Valley connection. Currenty TCU President/Chancellor is Vic Boschini, former Illinois State President.

I'm surprised with how long he has been gone that ISU hasn't signed any games with them. I don't think he left on any bad terms; he just got a better offer.

Kudos to your 6-year old!

I haven't been to Valley Talk in months, and I now remember why. I came to see what others schdedules looked like and all I read is brainless post after post from MVJ.

I'm sure MVJ will have some smart and cute comment about this and in his own mind will think it is funny - or he'll say it isn't funny and have another smart a@@ comment about that...but MVJ, you really are pathetic.

I feel bad for you but I feel worse for your family. I'm sure you'll rationalize this in your own head and give some great response to this or post some pointless, pathetic picture - and you may feel proud of this, but you specifically have ruined ValleyTalk.

That's wonderful news. I thought was the one who ruined ValleyTalk.

We both did.

Funny. Neither you nor I have been posting much lately. If you ignore this particular thread, I have maybe five other posts on the whole first page of the basketball forum. Not much more. I don't think you do, either. We both have a few in baseball and I am posting a bit in football. Other than that, all of my posting has been in the Off Topic Forum, which is, as I understand it, Off Topic.

The real challenge with Valley Talk this summer, in my humble opinion, is that the forum is devoid any real bragging rights or talking points. It has little to do with any posters or anything else. You can only talk about verbal commitments so much.

Looking at the Valley, Drake swept the league and tourney last year, but their fans aren't chest thumping and it's just another year; the Drake expectations seem to be higher than in the past, but not outlandish. Compare that to recent past summers. Last year, we had the preseason Top 25 SIU hype and the year before, it was Wichita State. Those factors focused the offseason talking points and fostered debate. Comparatively, there is very little going on and the forum has no rudder. Therefore, nobody ruined Valley Talk, it is a matter of little to discuss. In November, it will be back to normal.

Nope iSASO, it isn't you, it isn't me, it isn't DawgieStyle, baller or Cold. Darnit though, I wished I had accomplished such a major feat! Although it would be a pretty powerful feeling to know that you could singlehandedly ruin a website. Afterall, If I had ruined Valley Talk, MVCTalk would be bursting at the seams right now. But since I have this gift of ruining sites, maybe I should go into computer hacking, that would be cool!
