Re: Loyalty
You may have heard that the Missouri Valley Conference has placed as many teams in the Sweet 16 as you placed in the 2nd round. You may also worry that this means that Missouri Valley schools will forget what they owe to their "big brothers" for their success. Rest assured that this is not the case.
Missouri Valley teams stand ready to help the Big XII in its time of need. Beginning in a few weeks, when our teams have finally finished playing basketball and can devote attention to lesser matters, the Missouri Valley Conference will hold a schedule-a-thon for needy Big XII members. Programs in need of a lift, such as Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska, are encouraged to call their Valley counterparts. Valley coaches have agreed to graciously offer a 2-for-1 scheduling agreement with all Big XII schools who file the appropriate paperwork.
This means the University of Missouri, for example, can schedule two visits to lovely Springfield, where it can play in front of an actual full arena; in return, as a charitable favor, the Missouri State Bears agree to visit Columbia for a single game. Wichita State is offering the same arrangement to the University of Kansas. Unfortunately, for financial reasons, Wichita State has decided it can only visit Manhattan in exchange for 5 home visits from Kansas State University.
