I never seen so many people slob all over the place than I have here. Look at these posts. You guys quote every single word an analyst says about you. If its bad, you ask for the guy's head. If it's good you say somebody actually knows what they're talking about. Analysts just share opinions, which are like @$$holes, everybody's got one.
There was a post about how Bradley acted like they've been there before after they beat Pitt and praised them for it. Then I come on here and everyone is acting like the MVC is God's gift to basketball. If you want to be treated like big brother instead of little brother, then act like it. The SEC and ACC fans aren't going frickin nuts they got 2 teams to the Sweet 16; and the MVC got just as much love as the SEC in the preseason (which was none). I'd tell all you guys to act like you've been there before, but that just wouldn't make sense now would it? And I don't wanna hear how WSU beat UT so the MVC > SEC. It's one game, plus nobody like UT in the SEC anyways. Pearl's a nutjob and UT was THE most overrated team in America this year.
I can understand some conference camaraderie, but get a grip guys. You guys almost busted one when an MVC chant started during the BU game. Everybody does that. It's the oldest chant in sports. Everybody greets their team when they get back from a big win. (Everybody gets big wins, not just the MVC) (Oh and there have been other teams that felt like they should have been in the Big Dance and were left out. Sorry Missouri St. It happens) But I know, nobody respects the MVC, everybody is scared to play you. I can hear the world's smallest violin now. All Hail MVC.
Now seriously guys, do u go out and check every message board in America to see if they're talking about the MVC? "Hey guys!! Iowa St fans said something good about us!!!!!! We've arrived!!!" I'm not gonna take anything away from Bradley or WSU, they won fair and square. But you guys need to get a grip. One year and you expect everyone to put you on a pedestal.
Lets face it guys, about the only thing the MVC board has going for it is this dancing banana
I am assuming you guys are so MVC-sensitive that you just can't take anyone saying stuff like this. You'll probably erupt and show up at my front door (with signs that come up with funny little jargons about packer and nantz using the letters C, B, and S). So guys, what say you? Lets hear it.

It is called "Valley" talk for a reason, Brainiac... Let me guess, you're an SEC fan?? That league's a joke, dude's a leading candidate for NATIONAL coach of the year, and he isn't even voted coach of the year in his own conference after what he did w/ that piece of crap team. They're all jealous of him, that's why he didn't get it, he's not "one of them".
You are obviously pretty resentful, what do you care if these dudes are all creaming themselves over tournament success that has been so elusive? It has always confused me why someone who doesn't care about something wastes their time posting about it? Just to "incite" people? What a clever, tough guy you are!

I'm glad you like the banana.
There is a big difference this season that doesn't show up on paper. You may have missed it during the CBS Selection Show. The MVC, rated the 6th best conference by the RPI, which usually means getting 5 teams in the dance, got 4 bids and was roundly criticized by big name pundits who have never seen an MVC game.
That type of unfair criticism usually doesn't happen to the 6th best conference in the country.
That never happens to the BCS conferences.
The MVC is under a microscope and looking good.
Or maybe you already know this since you bothered to check out this board and read all the posts.

Nah, unlike most of America, I already knew what the MVC was before this tournament. Now that people are actually talking about it, I decided to come and see what the fans were saying.
And please, quit crying about only getting 4 teams in when you were "the 6th best conference." The RPI is only a number, its nothing official. (Again: See Missouri State)

MVCsBigBrother: We're just having fun. We have (almost) a week to kill before the next NCAA games (but we do have NIT games). Life is good and we are enjoying it. Billy (Fudge) Packer, Jim Nancy, etc. are tools of the "BCS conferences" and should be punished; the best we can do is try to get them fired or put them on the spot. For many universities, it is spring break and fans who are students can enjoy the success of the Valley. You need to relax and enjoy the ride; fans just wanta have fun.

I think we hurt some someone's ego from a BCS school.
Seriously, though, I think with all the press (and other schools from BCS conferences alike) essentially saying that the valley stinks - and for Bradley and WSU (And we are doing okay in the nit, thank you) - it validates us.
My guess is next year we (the MVC) will be snubbed again - while beating other teams.
If you think you are that great - then lets talk schedule. Then we can see about long term anyting.
and for what its wroth.. MSU was friggn snubbed. We should have clearly went dancing.. We beat UWM and a number of other teams (including bradley, etc) who were in the dance - or won their conference/division. Do your research before you open your mouth, please.
Put up or shut up. We have put up, how about you?

Lets talk about the SEC. They have done a good job - and if you look at the same numbers, they had MUCH better seeds - yet the valley got the same number of teams to the sweet sixteen with two fewer teams.
Lets also talk about SEC teams which we played. UNI beat LSU and MSU nearly beat Arkansas at Arkansas (we were leading with like 2 min left to play and arkansas pulled it out to their credit).
Lets also look at how WSU did against Tennessee.
Again, put up and schedule or shut up.

The SEC and ACC fans aren't going frickin nuts they got 2 teams to the Sweet 16;
Here's a clue: The 1-4 seeds are SUPPOSED to get into the Sweet 16. The path is cleared for them. Those are the seeds the ACC and SEC usually get. There's not much to "go frickin' nuts" about when teams get a string of patsies to make it to the Sweet 16.
If the SEC and ACC had a 7-seed and a 13-seed getting into the Sweet 16 you can bet your backside they'd "go frickin' nuts" about it. And they'd be on every message board they could find screaming "our number 5 team is better than your #2 team".
If you want to know where a lot of this stuff comes from visit any of the Valley team message board. On the WSU board you're going to have to wade through about 8 pages to find all the congratulations from fans of other schools. Those people send include links to articles and message boards. Multiply that by 6 for teams that made the postseason. Mutiply it by 4 for teams still playing in the postseason.
A lot of that stuff ends up posted here. It's not our fault the entire nation seems to have fallen in love with the MVC and wants to share the love. Well, maybe it is our fault - we're still winning games after the middle of March.

and then tells us that this is the only place where fans bash the media - and praise those in line with its own interests...

in the meantime - i will enjoy two NIT games tomorrow night and 2 sweet 16 games next weekend.

When people start to care, is when people start to fear you and acknowledge the conference. The Valley has arrived when people like this stat coming fellow Valley brethren.

Interesting. First it was the BCS fans saying the MVC never had a team that made a deep run in the NCAA's, which wasn't true. Then they said that the MVC had to have a couple of teams make deep runs in the tourney this year to validate the Valley, which was a trap requirement since the Valley always gets seeds with bigger numbers on them.
So, the Valley has done everything ANYBODY said needed to be done to validate the Valley's standing with the BCS conferences.
Face it, the MVC got invited to the party. Don't jump on the fans because a couple of guys invited to the party stole your dates and took them home with them.

As the one who posted the link to the Iowa State board, I'll explain slowly, so that you can understand.
I live in Iowa.
I live about 30 miles from ISU.
My son goes to ISU.
I like to keep up with what's going on with ISU basketball.
ISU fired their entire coaching staff a couple days ago.
I wanted to get a feel for what Iowa State fans thought about the situation.
I went to the ISU board to get that information.
While I was there, I noticed several threads ripping Billy Packer and praising the MVC.
I thought that fellow MVC fans might be interested in what they were saying.

You know, there's a lot that can be assumed about this guy. One, he's a moron. That goes without saying. Two, he's incredibly insecure about his lot in life as a life-long SEC devotee, and decided that showing it by roasting what he believes to be the source of all that is wrong with college basketball.
If you've ever been to a bar and gotten into a fight with some drunk and beligerent jerk who was trying to hit on your girlfriend, you'll know what I'm talking about here. You can give the offending meathead reason after reason why he's an idiot, and should leave you alone to your own business. In the end, you've proven your point, but he doesn't get it, and continues to get closer and closer to your face, spitting while he talks. You have no choice but to push him back, and he's so drunk that one little shove sends him backward, crashing over a table and knocking over a pitcher of beer. The bar laughs, and he stands up and calls you a "fag." He then staggers away calmly (albeit in very slurred speech) saying "You're just a fag. You're a fag. I'm the better man for walkin' away. The better man. You fudge packer."

By the way... saying something like "Wichita State beating Tennessee one time doesn't mean anything... we're still better than you," and "I've probably offended you with this post, let's hear it," is the same thing as "You can s**k my d**k you homo. You'd like that you big homo."

Frankly to me it is a little weird that you feel the need to come over hear and expose your idiocy. What's up with that?
Seriously, it is a little weird.

No, that honor was reserved for UNI (the 6th place team in the MVC)

DU: Props to you. He won't understand but you tried; not much more you can do.

Everyone here is saying how the MVC is so good because Bradley and WSU are still playing, while other power conference schools are done. UNI was one and done, while LSU is still playing. Which one is it? UNI beat LSU by 4. LSU lost at UCONN by 1. So is UNI better than UCONN?

I don't know, because I don't like to play "The Six Degrees of Charles Nelson Reilly" when I talk about basketball. But here's a hypothetical:
UNI beats LSU by 4, at LSU. Is UNI better?
YES.

Clark Kellog was asked if winning in the tournament means one conference is better than another. His answer is summarized in the following: No, the tournament is all about matchups. You can't say one conference is better than another based on one tournament game, because the tournament is how one team matches up with another.
How come none of you have posted about that? No conference is going around complaining how everyone said the Big Ten was one of the best conferences and now the Big Ten has 0 teams left. Upsets happen.

LSU is a 4 seed. They are expected to win, and to be in the Sweet 16. UNI was a 10 seed, probably rightfully so after the slump at the end of the season. Knocking off the 7 seeded Georgetown would have been nice (and was entirely possible) but it didn't happen. I'm not really sure what your point is here, but it seems that the MVC fans have a solid argument that our teams in the tournament have "overperformed" given their seeds, while other power conferences have "underperformed", as they have been seeded well and still lost.
Also, by your logic....LSU lost to UNI by 4. Indiana State beat UNI by 1. So is LSU worse than Indiana State, a team that went 4-14 in the Valley??

Guys, this is what happens when the arrogant, insecure BCS fans feel threatened. They resort to attempts to belittle, flame, insult. Whatever it takes to console themselves that no one is coming up the ladder to knock them from their perch.
It's probably best to just laugh, push 'em aside, and keep climbing.

And Clark Kellogg is all the sudden a genius? This argument is stupid because there is no way to prove it either way. Any team can beat anyone else on any given night. Props to WSU and BU for being better prepared and executing better than their opponents thus far in the NCAA tourney.

Take a look at all the posts talking about what an analyst said about the Valley. Why does an analyst know what he's talking about if he says something good about the Valley and incredibly dumb if he says something bad? My post about Clark Kellog was merely an attempt to share another analysts opinion, just as all you have been doing.

That is far from my logic. I was illustrating how dumb it is to say one team is better than another based on one game. LSU accomplished far more this season than UNI did. You can't say LSU is better than UNI based on that game.

I was actually being sarcastic....and I don't think anyone is arguing that LSU is better than UNI based on a game in which UNI BEAT them.

I think you're beginning to understand... YES! Yes they are! In fact, I think Texas is incredibly overrated, and Tennessee gave them what they deserved. But since we're talking about the Valley, I'll say this.

none of you will believe this but it is the truth. in my bracket, i correctly put bradley and WSU in the sweet 16 and had UNI and SIU losing in the first round. i have not bashed on how bad valley teams are. my original post was how each of you are lubing each other up because of 2 sweet 16 teams.

except that was the point of this thread for you though, to show US the error of our ways. You have an opinion and you are entitled to it, no matter how arrogant and narrow minded it may be. Fine, you picked the two MVC teams for the sweet 16, which is unlikely due to your posts content, you are special. Yay. Jump for joy.
Ok, now you came in like your Big Brother self and showed us what the world thinks of us. Oooooooooh. The Valley should just fold up and go away because MVCs big brother said so!
The entire valley plays with a huge chip on its shoulder because of the way the BCS teams act, and it spreads to the fans of the BCS and the Valley as well. It shows through in everything you try to say negatively about the valley, and it only makes us better for it. The NCAA is going to start to respect the Valley, no matter what.

If getting two teams in the Sweet 16 means more BCS people coming on our board, then that's fine by me! Go Valley! Negative or positive posts, I really don't care.
I'm just excited to have people paying attention, and yes, some will be negative, but heck who cares, we have two teams in the Sweet 16, and we are going to enjoy it. I'd say the Valley has earned it this year.

Well UNI played and beat LSU at home. UCONN and UNI havn't played so my guess would have to be with UCONN. Whats your problem? Did a team of yours lose to an MVC team? your so silly. So which is it? Matchups or Head-to-Head? Let's see...
MATCHUP: UNI (#10) loses to Georgetown (#7)
HEAD-TO-HEAD: UNI-54 LSU-50
You can't have it both ways.
