Three teams still alive in the post-season.

WSU gets a second chance at George Mason - in an even more meaningful game.

But let's not forget this. For all of you younger MVC fans, who might not know all of the league's history beyond the last 10 years or so.......

We've got two matchups of keen interest to all of us. Both Memphis (NCAA) and Louisville (NIT) are former members of the Valley. They both left in the early/mid '70's to help form the old Metro Conference, which eventually evolved into Conference USA.

Just a little bit more history involved with those games.

Definitely won't be missing out on my Shockers as they take it to George Mason, but let's all pull hard for the New Valley to beat the Old Valley.

If there are some older Bradley fans here who can dust off old stats related to Bradley vs. Memphis State, relate any stories, anecdotes, or memorable moments involved with BU-MU games, or anything else, feel free to add them here.

The Bradley-Memphis series is tied at 9-9, but the Tigers have won the last 3 games in the series, which ended in 1988 (until now, of course).

Bradley won the only postseason game between the two, 84-83 for the 1957 NIT Title....

I can remember watching Valley games on TV in the late 60s, before I really became a fan of WSU. I remember watcing St Louis, Drake, Bradley, Creighton, WSU, Memphis State and Louisvile, and those teams were all very athletic. That's back when it was known as the Valley of Death.

Then things went down hill for awhile, but resurgance hit in the late 70s-early 80s, with guys like Larry Bird, Maurice Cheeks, Antoine Carr, Cliff Levingston, Terry Glenn, and Hersey Hawkins, just to name a few. Valley teams were often ranked in the top 20.

However, I think this latest success is even better because of the over-all strength of the league from top to bottom. We should see a lot more Valley teams break into the top 25 next year, now that we've proven that we belong in the upper tier of NCAA programs, regardless of our "Mid-Major" label. To have a league that has done this well in the NCAA and NIT, with only two teams cracking the Top 25 all season (and just barely), just shows the BCS bias we've had to face.

Go get em this weekend WSU, BU and MSU!

You mean the Valley wasn't founded in 1990?

Chill Out! Look at the title of this thread, and if you can't appreciate anything that happened before 1990, go back to bashing Coach Turgeon with the rest of your Bear buddies.
