They are going to drop like a rock losing to Arkansas, KU and probably 2 out of three in Omaha.

Sadly, for the moment, I'm biting my tongue rather than happily eating crow...
Here's to a healthy dose of crow!

You may be more right than wrong. Question is; After today's 3-0 loss to CU, will they ever score a run again?

Nope...Shox will finish 9th in the valley. Season is over. Fire Gene and the whole team and start from scratch. It worked well in 1978.

I don't suppose any Valley team would be interested in the winningest active coach in history.

Hmmm...if Coach Brownlee can't get it done this year and make the tourney, we might have an opening. We sure need a new stadium built....:innocent:
I wouldn't mind if Gene is that person. Heck, I would even personally give him $50 of my own money if he came :original: Surely if he wants to leave Wichita, there are tons of programs that would take him...however I don't see him leaving there.

Actually it took 8 years before it "worked".
The Shocker baseball program was abolished in 1970 and they didn't play again until the 1978 season.

Is Gene still WSU's coach? I thought he moved on to Oklahoma.

I heard he would of retired but made a couple of "bad investment" moves.

Yes, I think he only has $800,000 of his cash annuity left to survive on. He's struggling so much he's building an awesome new house.

Boy make up your mind. One day you want to get rid of him and call him a has been. Next day you name him best coach ever in the history of sports. Looks like someone just likes to argue.

800k isnt much of a retirement for a man who won the 1989 baseball championship.
baseball is one of the premier sports in college (according to shocker fans) I imagine gene has at least 50,000,000 stored away somewhere.

Baseball timeline:
1970- WSU drops baseball
1977- WSU hires Gene to resurrect program
1978- WSU starts playing baseball again.
1982- WSU makes first trip to the CWS.
So from the time we dropped the program until the time we actually reached Omaha was 12 years.
I hope I don't have to wait that long to get to Omaha again (this past weekend excluded).
