well I looked into the standings and saw the baseball bears are on top.
No real surprise there. Since the hammons field recruits are now on the field I suspect the bears will rule from here on out!!

Considering this MSU team has only played 3 games in the league schedule (against a 16-14 Evansville team) at home, dropped 2 of 3 to a 12-10 Minnesota team at home and was swept in a 2 game series at home by a 13-8 Purdue squad... might be a bit early to proclaim delusions of grandeur.

Sounds oddly familiar:

“isaso....are you coming to the valley tournament??
after you see hammons field....you will know two things.
#1. the future of valley baseball is the bears.
#2. WSU will never again host anything when they are in competition with springfield/hammons field.”
How has that worked out for you so far over the past two years?

I don't care for the type of post that gosms post, nor do I agree with the post, but Purdue was good. They took 2 of 3 from nationally ranked Mizzou and they beat nationally ranked North Carolina.
We still probably don't hit the ball well enough to compete for the championship but our pitching is good enough to keep us in most games.

Facts are that MSU hasn't done jack since the day you ran your mouth.

Let's just mail the trophy to the Ozarks.
Nobody can compete against Cheeseburger and his staff this year.

In all fairness the Purdue games were midweek games and I'm not going to put too much stock into those. We have a solid weekend rotation with a great 1-2 punch. Sink is probably the early favorite for Pitcher of the Year, and that is a huge plus in the rotation. We do not have great starting depth after the first 3, and midweek games have not been great thus far.
The offense is healthy now with Keane and Pummill back, and it is starting to show signs of life. We actually rank pretty high among the valley in homers and doubles.
It's way to early to start celebrating a conference championship, but with our weekend rotation we will be in the hunt.

So are Shafer's numbers and everyone I had talked to said he was a stud. His brother is starting tonight for us against Arkansas so hopefully he will have a good night.
With Sink, Carroll, and Detwiler we should be around most MVC games if we can just score some runs.
Good luck against KU!

Yeah, I hesitate to say this, but he is starting to remind me a little bit of another #41 in his Freshman year. (note: Mike Pelfrey also wore #41) I didn't know his bro pitched for MSU. Good to know. Take down the hogs.

I am sure we will need a lot of runs but the Bears have gotten off to a fast start jumping on the Hogs with 6 runs in the first inning.
After 1 inning
Bears - 6
Backs - 0

I have never seen a team with the hitting, pitching, defense and excellent coaching that the Bears bring to the league this year.
Might as well send the automatic birth to Springfield and cancel the rest of the season there is no use in playing the games.
The Bears are truly a juggernaut.
We all bow to the power of SWOMOSTU baseball, the “New King of The Valley”.

Getting that Arkansas win is a legit feather in MSU's cap.
We'll see how the rest of the league schedule goes, but that's a nice win for a Valley team to have right now.

Sorry my misguided barefoot friend from the Ozarks, the mighty Bares are back this year but cannot claim the "King of the Valley" for last year since they did not qualify for the league or NCAA post season.
In order to be King you must dominate like they are doing this year.

You need to let your own fans know about the name change.
I attended this years WSU at MoST basketball game and I was surprised to see so many MOst fans still wearing SMS gear.
I guess they didn't get the name change memo.:valley: :shockers:

To support the name change that your legislators, school administrators, and locals lobbied so hard for.
After seeing a few of the MSU fans in Wichita last weekend, the only conclusion one could objectively draw was that nobody really gave a damn about the name change.

See how in synch Shocker fans are Gsmsg?.........I had an off day yesterday, wasn't hitting your 'off-speed' pitches.
But two other Shockers step up and knock your pitches around the proverbial VT ballpark. And I'm sure there are more out there who would've done the same.
I think it's time to pull you for a relief poster. Why? Because 219 posts of very low quality are waaaaay to many at this point. Your post-drunk, and it's time for cheesebuga to come out and getcha!!
Where is that guy at? Bear fans, check your milk cartons closely and put out an APB.
